Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 1034

Even when they pulled up to the school gates, Connor wasn’t ready to let Lydia go just yet. He leaned in and kissed her, slow and sweet, until finally, with a reluctant smile, he let her slip out of the car.

The moment Lydia stepped onto campus, it was like the whole place exploded. Everywhere she looked, students were staring, their eyes wide with admiration. People called her name, waving and grinning. Some of the boys even darted over, shoved gifts into her arms, and then dashed off as if embarrassed to stick around.

Lydia just stood there, arms full of presents, not sure what to do.

“Lydia!” someone called out behind her.

She turned and saw Fiona and Monica running full-speed toward her. They looked more excited than ever, practically vibrating with energy as they reached her.

“Lydia, we love you! We are your fans!” Monica tried to go in for a hug, but stopped short when she saw Lydia’s arms overflowing with gifts and even more piled at her feet. Monica burst out laughing. “Looks like everyone’s lining up to apologize, huh? Guess they’re finally eating their words.”

Lydia blinked. “Apologize for what?”

Fiona grinned. “You didn’t see the school forum? After you crushed it at the academic competition, everyone’s been talking. Some people admitted they underestimated you and said some pretty mean stuff before. Now they feel bad, so they’re giving you gifts to say sorry.”

Monica reached into her bag and pulled out a small, beautifully wrapped box. “We brought you presents too.”

Lydia finally got it. “Oh, that explains it. I was on vacation during the break, so I didn’t check the forum.”

“You’re always so busy. Here, this one’s from me,” Fiona said, handing over her own gift.

Lydia smiled, shaking her head. “You two really didn’t have to.”
