After class, Lydia headed straight for the lab. Kevin was already there, waiting for her, worry written all over his face. "Hey, Lydia, how are you feeling these days?"
Kevin had been a mess ever since Lydia got poisoned. He could only hope Garrett would find a cure on his trip to Country D.
Lydia shrugged, spreading her hands. "Don't worry about me. See? I'm still standing."
Kevin wasn’t convinced for a second. She looked okay, but he knew better. "There's nothing urgent going on. Why not take a break from the lab and actually get some rest for once?"
But Lydia shook her head. "The International Medical Competition is coming up soon. Are you really telling me not to join?"
The competition was a huge deal, with the best students from all over the world coming together. It was about more than winning. It was about making your country proud. Lydia was a medical genius. It would be a shame for her to miss out. She didn’t care about trophies, but representing her country felt important.
Kevin had wanted her to compete, but with her condition, any flare-up could be deadly. "There are plenty of people who can go. We don’t need to risk your life. Before we find a cure, just focus on resting."
Lydia let out a sigh. "Resting is so dull."
For someone like her, being told to relax was almost a joke. Kevin knew he couldn’t win this argument, so he tried, "Let’s just wait until Garrett gets to Country D and see what he finds out, okay?"
Lydia nodded. "Fine."
At lunchtime, Lydia went to the cafeteria with Fiona and Monica. They couldn’t wait to tell her about Silvia.
"Lydia, you missed it. After you left, she got so emotional her eyes turned red. I’ve never seen her like that," Fiona said.
"Yeah, everyone’s saying you’re so generous for letting her stay," Monica added.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
