When Lydia and the others finally made it to the hospital, Mr. Norwood was just being wheeled out of the emergency room.
The doctor pulled off his mask and said, “He’s alright. Just a mild concussion and a sprained ankle. With his age, we want to keep him here for a few days to be safe. Try to make sure he stays put, takes his medicine, and gets plenty of rest. He should be fine.”
Kylie and Cameron both let out a huge sigh of relief. Lydia felt her own nerves settle too. She knew how dangerous even a little fall could be for someone older.
Lucinda hurried to the bedside and grabbed her grandfather’s hand, her eyes shining with tears. “Grandpa, are you okay?” Her voice was shaky, every word soaked in worry.
Mr. Norwood managed a weak wave. “I’m alright. Just missed a step and took a tumble. I didn’t mean to scare everyone.”
He explained it simply. He’d just been out in the garden, lost in thought, and didn’t see the step clearly. Before he knew it, he was on the ground.
Kylie looked at him with so much concern. “Dad, you really have to be more careful. If you got hurt any worse… I don’t know what we’d do.”
Cameron agreed right away. “She’s right, Dad. You really scared us. What are the maids doing around here? The second we leave, they just stop paying attention!”
Mr. Norwood gave a tired sigh. “Don’t blame them. I’m just getting old. Didn’t watch where I was going.”
Lydia glanced over the medical report again, reading every line just to be sure. When she finished, she finally relaxed. “There’s no need to worry. He’ll stay here for two days, then he can go home.”
That settled it for Kylie and Cameron. They finally looked at ease.
Mr. Norwood looked around at everyone, guilt on his face. “You were all supposed to be at Mr. Rowland’s birthday party today. I’ve ruined everything.”
“Dad, please. Don’t think about that. You just need to focus on getting better,” Kylie said, her tone gentle.
Lucinda suddenly looked up at her parents and sister. “Mom, Dad, Lydia, I know you all have things to do. Let me stay here with Grandpa tonight. I can look after him.”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
