“Don’t worry, Lucinda. The Norwood family isn’t going to kick you out. Worst case, we just let Frank spend some time at the station so the Norwoods can cool off.”
The more Lucinda listened, the more off it all sounded. She turned to Grace. “Grace, are you hiding something from me?”
Grace wanted so badly to tell her the truth, wanted to confess that Frank, that pathetic mess of a man, wasn’t her real father at all. But Night Eagle had made it clear. This was a sensitive time. If Lucinda found out now, she might panic and ruin everything. Better to let her settle in with the Norwoods first. The truth could wait.
“Lucinda, there are things… I haven’t told you, but I promise, I’m only doing this for your own good… I…”
“Okay, okay, I get it. I should go back to the Norwoods now.”
Lucinda was so over it. Every time Grace said it was for her own good, nothing ever actually made her happy. She couldn’t just keep following Grace’s lead. If she wanted Lydia gone, she’d have to figure out another way herself.
Her heart was pounding when she got back to the Norwood estate. Of course, the butler was waiting for her at the door. “Everyone’s in the garden, waiting for you.”
She walked out into the garden and spotted Frank right away, slumped on the ground. When he saw her, he hung his head even lower, looking absolutely pitiful.
Lucinda looked at the people in front of her, totally confused. “Mom, Dad, what’s going on?”
Kylie let out a soft sigh and looked at her. “Lucinda, do you know who that is?”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
