Mr. Norwood was shaking, his whole body trembling with anger.
“Do you really think that’s the same? You think you can just give her money and send her away? Did you ever ask if that’s what she wants? Will she actually be happy if she leaves this family? You’re only thinking about yourselves.
“For your own daughter, you’re ready to throw Lucinda out. If that’s how it is, then throw me out too. I’ll go with Lucinda and we’ll live on our own. We won’t bother your precious little family ever again.”
Kylie’s voice broke as she tried to hold back tears. “Dad, it’s not that I don’t want to give her another chance. But every time we forgive her, she just does something worse. If we’re not strict this time, she might cause so much more trouble next.”
“She said she’ll change. Why do you have to be so cold?” The old man was so upset he could barely catch his breath.
Lucinda was crying, but she kept sneaking glances at everyone’s faces. When she noticed Mr. Norwood’s determined look, a tiny spark of hope flickered in her chest. With a shaky voice, she said, “Grandpa, I promise I’ll behave from now on. I’ll never mess up again. I’ll do anything you want, just please don’t make me leave.”
Mr. Norwood reached out and helped Lucinda stand, holding her close like he was shielding her from the world. “Lucinda isn’t leaving this family. Not as long as I’m alive.”
The whole room went silent. It was like everyone forgot how to breathe.
Kylie and Cameron looked at each other, their eyes full of frustration and uncertainty.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
