If she didn’t want her daughter to end up in prison, her only hope was to beg Lydia for mercy. As long as Lydia was willing to give a little, maybe they could still fix things.
Benjamin watched Rosie with obvious disappointment. His frustration was written all over his face. The Gibson family’s reputation was completely ruined. But there was nothing left to say.
Mandy gently helped Rosie up from the floor and kept her voice soft. “Just stay here for now, okay? I’ll get you out. I promise.”
How could she let her own daughter suffer in a place like this?
Even with Mandy’s reassurance, Rosie couldn’t stop imagining being trapped in that dark, hopeless cell alone. She’d heard all the rumors—stories about the twisted people in jail, especially the ones who liked to torment young girls. Rosie was still so young and pretty. She couldn’t stand the idea of staying here.
“No, Mom, Dad, please don’t leave me. I don’t want to be here alone…”
Right now, Rosie had totally forgotten what Mandy had gone through when she took her place in prison. She only cared about herself.
Benjamin stomped his foot in anger. “You don’t want to stay here alone? What, you want your mother and me to stay here with you?”
Rosie just broke down crying. If she could, she really would want her parents to stay in this cell with her. Of course, she knew how selfish and ridiculous that sounded, so she kept it to herself.
Mandy gently smoothed Rosie’s messy hair. “Rosie, I said I’d find a way to get you out and I will. Trust us, alright?”
Eventually, the guards came and pulled Rosie away. Her screams echoed through the whole police station, desperate and raw.
Once they were outside, Mandy wiped her tears away, her hand trembling. “We’re going to the Norwoods.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
