Mabel sat in her office, phone pressed to her ear, listening to Mandy’s voice message. Her frustration boiled over and she slapped her palm hard on the desk. “Unbelievable!” How could her brother and a sister-in-law be so stupid?
She’d seen the mess Rosie had caused online. The moment it blew up, she knew the Gibson family was doomed. Just in case, she’d warned the butler, telling him to say she wasn’t home if anyone from the Gibsons came knocking. But of course, Mandy just had to go straight to the old family home. Mr. and Mrs. Mr. Robinson had never liked Mandy or her family. Showing up now would only upset them. Their health wasn’t great to begin with. If Mandy’s visit sent them to the hospital, it would be a disaster.
Mabel weighed her options for a moment, but there was really nothing she could do. With a sigh, she stood and got ready to head over to the Robinson estate.
In another office, Nathaniel was half-heartedly hugging his textbooks, pretending to study. He looked up when he saw Mabel getting ready to leave. “Mom, where are you going?”
She didn’t bother hiding anything from him. “Mandy went to the Robinson house. I’ve got to go back.”
Nathaniel had spent the whole day online, following the drama, even helping Lydia drag Rosie and her army of trolls through the mud. As soon as he heard Mandy had shown up, he leapt out of his chair, tossing his books aside. “They actually have the guts to come to our house?”
Mabel could only shrug. “Honestly, I expected it.”
This wasn’t the first time Mandy and Benjamin had pulled something like this. Whenever things were going well, they never remembered Mabel was family. Worse, they’d only show up when they wanted to gloat over her misfortune, like her struggles made their own lives brighter. It was like they couldn’t stand to see her doing well, and were always hoping she’d fall behind them.
But when the Gibson family got into trouble and their usual support dried up, suddenly they remembered Mabel and came running, acting like nothing had happened. Living in the Capital meant there was no way for Mabel to really avoid them. Even after cutting ties, they still managed to show up at her door, acting like they were entitled to her help. It was infuriating.

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
