The plan was clear—get these clones into the upper circles and quietly take control of the country’s economy. There was no way Night Eagle was doing this on its own. Someone powerful had to be pulling the strings, maybe even with government support from abroad.
Dustin looked seriously worried. “This is... huge.”
The whole thing was tangled, with so many families involved. They’d have to be really careful. As for the people who’d been switched out, they didn’t have solid proof from the chat logs, but Lydia could tell from how they talked that nobody had been killed. They were probably sent overseas.
“Mr. Lowe had a barcode with the number ten. So he’s probably the tenth clone.”
Mr. Norwood’s replacement was still fresh. If Lydia could check his barcode, she’d know his number and could start figuring out just how many people had been swapped.
After giving Dustin a couple of quick instructions, Lydia rushed off to find Boris. When Boris heard the news, he was stunned. He never imagined that evil forces had already reached so deep into their country. Thank goodness Lydia caught it when she did—otherwise, the fallout would have been unimaginable.
But there was still a big problem. With so many people already replaced and so little information, they couldn’t risk tipping anyone off. One wrong move and the whole operation would blow up in their faces. The only safe way forward was to identify all the clones and take them out together. And above all, they had to find out who was really behind it all.
“Maybe you should focus on investigating here at home, and I’ll look into what’s happening overseas,” Boris suggested.
Boris was practically famous in the country, with a reputation that made people notice. If he started poking around, it would draw attention for sure. Lydia was different. She was young, kept a low profile, and could move around without causing a stir. That would make her job a lot easier.
Lydia nodded. “Alright.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
