She never would have guessed that Lydia was actually the real Norwood heiress. Did that mean Lucinda was a fake all along? Mr. Jefferson kept his face unreadable. “There’s no need to be surprised. She’s the true daughter of the Norwood family, the one promised to Connor since they were kids. The Norwoods just haven’t made it public yet.”
Mona couldn’t help feeling a little smug. No wonder, at the party yesterday, she only saw Lucinda sticking with the Norwoods, while Lydia was off with her pack of rude friends. Of course the Norwoods didn’t want to admit Lydia was one of them. If you’re not raised in the family, there’s just no real connection. So what if Lydia was the Norwoods’ real heiress? Mona was still the mayor’s only daughter. Lydia was nothing compared to her.
“Oh, I see. Well, if that’s how it is, I’ll just head back to Maple Town. As for Mona, maybe she can stay here in the Capital for a while, spend more time with Mikey?” Mrs. Brown had already lost interest in Lydia, since the situation had nothing to do with her own daughter. Whatever happened later, she could deal with it after both girls married the Jefferson boys.
Mr. Jefferson looked a little annoyed. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. Mikey has a lot of work every day. Miss Brown might not feel comfortable staying here alone. Maybe Mikey can visit her in Maple Town when he has some free time. There’s no need to rush these things. If you force it, it might just backfire.”
Mona grabbed Mikey’s arm and looked up at him, trying to look pitiful. “But if we do that, we’ll see each other even less. If I stay in the Capital, can’t we be together every day?”
Mikey pulled his arm free, his tone cool. “Miss Brown, I’m really busy with work. Even if you stayed here, you wouldn’t see me every day.” Honestly, he was starting to regret agreeing to anything with Lydia.
Mona’s face fell. She wanted to argue more, but Mrs. Brown cut her off. “Alright, alright, we’ll wait until Mikey’s free and he can go visit you in Maple Town. There’s plenty of time for all this later.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
