Ready to Rule The Real Heiress Strikes Back (Lydia and Connor) novel Chapter 1203

Lucinda could feel her scalp prickling under that stare, and she shrank back without thinking. Nina’s lips curled into a slight smile. She sounded casual, but every word hit its mark. “Mr. and Mrs. Norwood, I actually came today to clear up a misunderstanding with Lucinda. Last night, Lucinda came to me, and she was really serious. She told me that Lydia and Carter have something going on, and warned me to watch out for Lydia, or I’d lose the guy I like without even knowing it. So it’s not like Lydia said. I wasn’t trying to cause drama between them.”

The living room went completely silent. Kylie had suspected that Nina’s visit wasn’t just a friendly drop-in, and she had braced herself. Deep down, though, she’d been hoping that Lucinda hadn’t really tried to stir up trouble. But now Nina was here, saying it all to their faces. All of Lydia’s words had been true.

Cameron jumped up, his expression a mix of shock and anger. “Lucinda, why can’t you stop causing trouble out of jealousy? How could you just change into this?”

Lucinda started to panic. Her legs felt like jelly, and she could barely stay upright. Her voice shook as she tried to defend herself. “Dad, Mom, I didn’t… Miss Powell just misunderstood everything. That’s not what I meant at all.”

Lucinda still refusing to admit it, and Nina let out a cold laugh. “Then why don’t you explain what you meant by what you said to me last night, Lucinda?”

Lucinda’s eyes were burning with hatred. She’d thought she could use Nina to mess with Lydia, but Nina had flipped it right back on her.

Nina snorted, pulled out her phone, and held it up. “I have a recording of our conversation right here. Should I play it so everyone can hear? Or we can go to the police station. It’s up to you.”

Lucinda felt like her brain had exploded. A recording? When had Nina even started recording? A cold chill raced from her feet to her head. She felt like Lydia had set her up from the very beginning. Lydia and Nina must have known each other before. She’d fallen right into Lydia’s trap.

“It’s you. You two planned this!” Lucinda screamed, her eyes wild with rage. “Dad, Mom, my sister and Nina definitely knew each other already. I know my sister doesn’t want me here and wants me gone, but she didn’t have to use something like this to kick me out of the house!”
