Ready to Rule The Real Heiress Strikes Back (Lydia and Connor) novel Chapter 1225

Reed nodded. “I saw her drink it. I’ll go check on her now.”

Just in case, Lydia handed him a small vial. “As soon as you walk in, sprinkle this around the room.”

Reed didn’t hesitate. He did exactly as Lydia told him.

When Lydia figured enough time had passed for the drug to work, she brought Mona and Mikey with her and headed to Mrs. Brown’s room.

Mrs. Brown was out cold. Lydia walked over and carefully checked her. Mikey stepped back, giving her space. Under Mrs. Brown’s shoulder blade, Lydia found what she was looking for—a barcode.

“She’s definitely a clone,” Lydia said, then got the injection ready.

Once she finished, they all left the room and went straight to Reed’s study.

Reed looked anxious. “So, what do we do now?”

Lydia didn’t beat around the bush. “Keep an eye on her. Don’t let her notice anything. Wait for my update.”

Reed nodded. “Got it.”

Mikey suddenly looked nervous. “But, um… she wants me to talk to my family about marrying Miss Brown. What am I supposed to do?”

Yeah, that was awkward. Mona looked just as lost.

Lydia glanced at both of them. “You two make a good team. Just keep playing your parts.”

She sat there for a long time, trying to get her strength back. Eventually, she managed to shower and crawl into bed.

Lydia was so tired she slept straight through the morning. By the time she woke up, the sun was already high and Lucinda had already finished breakfast with the rest of the family. It was almost nine and Lydia hadn’t come downstairs yet.

Lucinda couldn’t help herself. “What’s with her? It’s already nine and she can’t even get up for breakfast. How is her body supposed to handle that?”

The old man turned to Cameron and Kylie, frowning. “I know you care about her,” he said, “but she’s out all night and can’t get up in the morning. That’s not healthy. Aren’t you going to do something?”

Cameron and Kylie knew exactly what Lydia had been up to. She was out there working hard, solving problems, doing her part for everyone else, but to the rest of the family, it just sounded like she was up to trouble. Some people just can’t help seeing the worst in everyone.

“Lydia’s done more at her age than the rest of us ever did. She’s going to school, running her fashion brand… she wakes up every day with a mountain of work waiting for her. Dad, she’s your granddaughter too. If you can’t care about her, could you at least let us? You are not fair.”
