Marilyn and Yara’s faces changed color on the spot, first pale, then flushed.
Marilyn crossed her arms. “You haven’t even made it into the top three yet. Come talk to us when you actually pull that off.”
Yara chimed in, “Yeah, don’t get cocky so soon. Who knows who’ll end up washing their hair upside down.”
The way the international students performed this morning, the competition was fierce. Breaking into the top three wouldn’t be easy for Lydia.
But Lydia just smiled, totally unfazed. “I believe in myself. What about you two? Think you’ll make it to the afternoon round?”
That shut Marilyn and Yara up instantly. The truth was, neither of them felt sure about advancing. They’d fumbled through so many questions, it was probably the worst exam either of them had ever taken. Of course, there was no way they’d ever admit that out loud.
Dr. Tomlinson watched them, disappointment written all over his face. He’d had high hopes for both girls, but they’d been too full of themselves, not listening to anyone’s advice. Now, regret wouldn’t do them any good.
“Lydia, what should we do about the afternoon competition? Most of our students look completely lost,” Mr. Russo asked, his worry obvious.
Both professors were anxious. The competition’s theme was all about AI diagnostics and robotic surgery, and that was exactly where their team was weakest. Even if some students managed to squeak by with the theory test this morning, what about the afternoon Q&A or tomorrow’s hands-on round? They’d all come here so confident, and now it looked like they might have to leave with their tails between their legs. Just thinking about it was embarrassing.
Lydia thought for a second. “Why not ask in the group chat? If anyone feels like they passed the theory test, we could use the two hours after lunch for an emergency training session. We’ll focus on AI diagnostics and robotic surgery. If someone’s not interested, that’s fine too, no pressure.”
Mr. Russo’s eyes brightened. “That’s a great idea, but… who’s going to run the training?”
“If anyone wants to join, I’ll do it,” Lydia offered.

thank u!...

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
