Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 1251

A sudden wave of nerves hit her. She thought about heading downstairs, but then Grace’s warning echoed in her mind. She had just visited the police station earlier that day. Was it really safe to go check that thing out now? Maybe she should wait a little longer. Yeah, waiting was probably the right call.

...

By the time Lydia wrapped up the training session for everyone, it was already eleven. Everyone needed to be up early for the competition, so there was no way they could afford another late night. Lack of sleep would only mess with their focus.

Once everyone had left, Lydia finally noticed the missed calls on her phone. The number wasn’t saved in her contacts. As she wondered who it could be, the phone rang again.

She picked up. It was Emerson, the chief examiner.

“Lydia, sorry to bother you so late.”

Lydia kept her voice calm. “It’s fine. Is something wrong?”

Emerson got straight to the point. “We’ve received an anonymous letter accusing you of cheating on the exam. The sender also included a lot of details about your time at school. According to the rules, when something like this happens, we have to suspend your spot in the competition tomorrow until we finish looking into it.”

Connor was standing right next to Lydia and heard everything. His eyes darkened, sharp with anger.

Someone actually reported Lydia? And even included her school info? That meant the person must be from their own country, probably someone who knew Lydia well. No wonder the organizers needed to check if it was true.

Lydia’s tone went cold. “So you’d rather believe someone who won’t even put their name on it, instead of a contestant who’s already made it through two rounds?”

The truth was, Emerson actually respected Lydia a lot. But the letter sounded like it came from someone who knew all about Lydia’s past. That made it sound pretty convincing.
