When Marilyn heard Mr. Russo’s voice, her heart started racing. Why was he looking for her this late at night? Could it be that someone had found out what she and Yara did? No way. That was impossible. They’d been careful, used anonymous accounts. There was no way anyone could know.
“Marilyn? Open the door.” Mr. Russo’s voice came again, sharper this time, making her nerves twist even tighter.
Outside, he glanced at Lydia and Connor, waiting for any sign of movement. Lydia just gave him a quick look, telling him to keep knocking.
Finally, after what felt like forever, the door creaked open. Marilyn stood in the doorway, hair messy, eyes bleary as she rubbed them, a yawn escaping her lips. She looked up to find Mr. Russo standing there. From where Marilyn stood, she couldn’t see that the hallway was crowded with people watching.
“Mr. Russo? It’s really late. Is something wrong?”
Dr. Tomlinson stepped out from the side, holding out a letter. He handed it to Marilyn without a word.
“Marilyn, did you write this?”
She’d tried to mentally prepare herself, but now that the moment was here, her heart was pounding so loudly she could barely think. Marilyn stared at the letter, trying to look as innocent and confused as she could. “What is this? Professor, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
If they didn’t have proof, the professors might have believed her. She was that convincing.
Dr. Tomlinson just smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Are you sure you don’t know anything, Marilyn?”
She shook her head, and her eyes filled with tears. Her voice got all shaky. “I really don’t, Professor. Lydia and I go to the same school. Why would I report her? If she got an award, I’d be happy for her. Why would I ever do something like that?”
She almost sounded believable.
“But the letter’s IP address came from this room,” Lydia said, stepping forward. The words hit Marilyn like a punch, and she froze.
“Your laptop’s still on, right? Want to let me check your browsing history?”
Marilyn’s face went pale. She took a small step back, panic clear in her eyes.
“I… I didn’t… I have no idea what you’re talking about…”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
