Lydia didn’t bother answering. She just got up from the sofa, exhaustion written all over her face. “I’m tired. I want to go to my room and rest.”

Kylie quickly wiped away her tears and hurried to help her. “Of course, Lydia. Let me walk you upstairs.”

Before they could leave, Connor spoke up. “Mr. Norwood, Mrs. Norwood, I’m really worried about Lydia. I’d like to stay with her for a couple of days to take care of her, if that’s alright.”

Cameron glanced at Connor and thought he was the kind of man any parent would be grateful for. “If you’re not busy, we’d appreciate that,” he said.

Mr. Norwood watched as everyone carefully surrounded Lydia and led her upstairs. He stayed silent, his eyes catching a strange, thoughtful glimmer.

Meanwhile, Lucinda was supposed to be listening to her professor in class, but her mind was drifting miles away. Lydia was making headlines again, stealing all the attention with her success abroad.
