Everyone watched Lydia, curiosity flickering in their eyes. “So, you want to use her to draw them out?” someone asked.
Lydia nodded. “That's right. We already have proof of their illegal deals, and we know where the cloning base is. But this time, we’re not just going after a few people. We’re taking down every last one of them. If we use Grace as bait, we can force all the hidden players to show themselves and finish this in one move.”
Someone chimed in, “Yeah, this is our best shot. We need to clean up our own house, too.”
After some debate, everyone agreed to Lydia’s plan. Each team started making their moves, careful to keep things quiet. They sent their best squad to the clone base, determined to rescue everyone who’d been replaced and wipe out the whole operation.
As for the Country D government, no one really believed they were clueless about the cloning research. If anything, they probably turned a blind eye or even helped make it happen. To keep things under wraps, the team decided to keep Country D’s officials in the dark. They’d take action first and deal with the fallout later. Once the base was exposed, the UN would step in, and Country D wouldn’t dare make a fuss.
Meanwhile, Lucinda was busy on her end. She’d already contacted a killer-for-hire, dropping fifty million just as a deposit. That was only the price to get in the door. Once they dug into the target’s background, they’d set the real price based on what they found.
Lucinda wasn’t worried, though. Grace’s card had a billion sitting in it. No matter what they charged, it would be more than enough to pay for Lydia’s head.
But then, everything went sideways.
She waited, nerves stretched tight, for three whole days. When the assassin group finally got back to her, the price tag made her jaw drop. They were asking for one billion. She checked the message again and again, but there was no mistake. One billion, straight up.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
