Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 131

Trey knew his boss was already overwhelmed dealing with his son, but there was nothing he could do. Company matters were just as urgent.

“Ms. Norwood just put out two company-wide announcements,” Trey said, his voice getting quieter as he spoke. “The first one is about recruitment. Almost every key position in every department has been listed for hiring.”

Parker just let out a cold laugh. “She just wants to see what it feels like to be the boss. She can post whatever jobs she wants. Butwe don’t have to hire anyone, right?”

The company had hosted plenty of job fairs over the years. In the end, though, Parker always had the final say about who stayed.

Trey wiped sweat from his forehead. “But… she posted the Vice President position, too.”

“What?” Parker’s anger flared.

“And… the General Manager, the Head of Design, the Head of Finance, and the Head of Production. All of them. Every single one.”

Parker was boiling. “How dare she!” The heat was brutal, and the anger in his chest was so intense he felt lightheaded, almost like he might pass out.

“That’s the first announcement,” Trey continued. “The second is about the design department.”

Parker leaned on a tree trunk, trying to steady himself. “What about it?”

“She’s making every designer submit their work to the national fashion competition. Anyone who places will get promoted and a raise. If they don’t do well, they’ll be demoted or even fired, depending on how bad it is. Marissa was furious and went to argue with Ms. Norwood, and Ms. Norwood said…”

Trey hesitated, clearly nervous.

Parker’s nerves were shot. “She said what?”

He twisted off the cap and took several long gulps. The cold water helped calm him, just a bit. He steadied himself and looked at Rose, who was still watching him with concern. “She had HR post job openings for every key position in the company. Even my Vice President role.”

Lydia was making it obvious to everyone. She was out to replace people.

“What?” Rose was stunned. “Who gave her that kind of power? Cameron and Kylie gave you that job. She can’t just push you out.”

Parker had worked at Greenward Power for years. Even when the company was losing money, Cameron and Kylie never talked about replacing him. Blake, the current CEO of Norwood Enterprises, had never pulled anything like this either. Lydia was way out of line.

“Call Kylie right now,” Rose said, her voice sharp. “Ask her who Lydia thinks she is. What gives her the right to do this? If they don’t move her out of the company, I’m done. Everyone who works under me is done. We’ll all hand in our resignations and leave Greenward Power.”

Parker was so angry, he couldn’t think straight. He was making threats he’d never made before, not even realizing how reckless he sounded.
