For a moment, everyone turned to look at Lucinda.

Her face went ghostly pale. She looked like she was about to burst into tears, completely overwhelmed. “I… I didn’t do anything. I didn’t tell Grandpa anything. I have no idea what happened. I really don’t… I swear…” Her voice trembled as tears slipped down her cheeks.

Kylie and Cameron couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.

“It’s okay, Lucinda. We’re not blaming you. Dr. Hady explained what happened, so let’s just be extra careful from now on,” Kylie said gently.

Dr. Hady nodded. “This sort of thing really can’t happen again. His health is fragile, and he simply can’t take another scare.”

“We understand, Dr. Hady. Thank you, really. Thank you so much,” Cameron said, repeating his gratitude.

Dr. Hady shook his head. “You don’t need to thank me, Mr. Norwood. If anyone deserves your thanks, it’s Miss Norwood. Without her guidance through the procedure, I honestly don’t know if the surgery would have gone as well as it did.”

Cameron and Kylie’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Lydia, you…?”

Lydia smiled softly, her expression calm and unassuming. “I just made a couple of suggestions. Dr. Hady is the one with all the experience.”

Cameron and Kylie felt a rush of pride. How did they get such an incredible daughter?

Dr. Hady seemed to want to talk to Lydia about Luke’s surgery, but after glancing at the family, he paused.

Lydia caught his look. “Go ahead and take care of your work. I’ll find you in a bit.”

“Alright,” he said before heading off with his team.

As soon as Dr. Hady left, Cameron and Kylie immediately started doting on Lydia.

He’d already landed in the operating room twice in just a few days.

Cameron’s face tightened with anger. “You’re absolutely right. I gave the kitchen specific instructions, so how could something like this happen? I want to know who was so careless. They’ll be fired.”

Kylie immediately picked up her phone and called the head chef.

The head chef was always in charge of preparing Grandpa’s meals personally. When he saw Kylie’s name pop up on his phone, he thought she was just calling about lunch.
