Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 204

“What did you just say? Are you serious?” Mr. Jefferson was so excited, he almost jumped out of his chair.

“Yeah. You should tidy up the house a bit and get some pastries, fruit, and snacks ready. I’m heading out to pick her up right now.”

“Oh my goodness, my boy, that’s great! Go, go, go. Bring Lydia home!”

As soon as he hung up, Mr. Jefferson’s grin nearly split his face. He turned to Chris, who was still sitting on the sofa looking stunned. “Lydia’s coming over. Come on, you know what young kids like. Call someone and have them send over the best snacks, the fancy stuff!”

There was never any snacks in the house, since it was always just the men at home.

After bossing Chris around, Mr. Jefferson called for the butler, looking proud of himself.

“Tell everyone to get moving and clean the whole house, top to bottom. Girls like flowers. Go pick some water lilies from the pond and put them in vases. And get the kitchen to make some cute desserts, things girls like. They need to look good and taste even better.”

“Yes, sir!”

“And don’t forget, bring out my special tea collection.”

The butler paused for a moment. “Sir, Lydia’s young. Should we prepare some milkshakes or maybe fruit tea too?”

Mr. Jefferson loved the idea and nodded right away. “Definitely. Find out what she likes and get it all. I want my precious granddaughter-in-law to feel completely at home.”

The butler nodded, just as happy. “Right away, sir.”

It had been ages since he’d seen Mr. Jefferson this thrilled.

Chris was still shaking his head. He could hardly believe how over the top his grandfather was being. When had he ever shown this kind of care for his own grandsons?

“Why are you still sitting there?”

“Not this one,” Lydia said, smiling just a little.

“Then please don’t go to the office this afternoon. Go rest in the lounge for a bit. Surgery is exhausting.” Kylie really was worried about her daughter.

Lydia hesitated, then decided to be honest. “Grandpa Samuel said he’s not feeling well. I’m going over to the Jefferson house to check on him later.”

“What?” Cameron and Kylie were both surprised. “Is it serious?”

“It probably isn’t,” Lydia said. Honestly, she wouldn’t know if he was really sick or just faking until she saw him.

As soon as Lucinda heard Lydia was going to the Jefferson house to see Mr. Jefferson, she perked right up.

“He’s not feeling well? You’ve never been to their place before, so you don’t know the way. I can go with you and show you how to get there.”
