Once Lydia finished the soup, Connor took the empty thermos from her, then slipped his hand into hers and led her toward the elevators. She probably hadn’t eaten all day. He needed to get her something to eat as soon as possible.
Jenson had just finished settling Sandy when he spotted Lydia out of the corner of his eye. He didn’t catch a good look at Connor’s face, but he definitely saw Lydia holding hands with a tall, broad-shouldered man as they stepped into the elevator together.
He stopped in his tracks, his jaw dropping. “Unbelievable. Lydia just left the operating room and already some guy is here to pick her up. Shameless. She’s ruining the reputation of Miracle Hands’ apprentices.”
He’d thought she finally had something to be proud of, a real skill she could show off. Turns out she hadn’t changed one bit. Out late at night with a man? If she were his own daughter, he’d have broken her legs for sure.
He figured that if Lydia was out, his son must be done too. But when he reached the operating room doors, only Milana was there, pacing back and forth, looking anxious.
“What’s going on? Why isn’t Luke out yet?”
Milana was just as anxious. She had no idea when Luke would be finished, and Lydia hadn’t given them any clear answer. It was like she was doing it on purpose, just to make them worry.
“I have no idea. That bitch already left, just told us to keep waiting, but didn’t say how long. She’s definitely toying with us. So petty.”
The more Milana thought about it, the angrier she got. Why had she let Lydia just walk away?
If Jenson hadn’t seen Lydia leave with another man, he would have told Milana she was being paranoid. But Luke was still inside, and Lydia had already run off with some guy, leaving the patient’s family hanging with no explanation. It was just irresponsible.
“What can we do? You were the one who insisted on kicking her out of the house. If she wants to get back at us, I can’t blame her.”
Milana bristled. “Excuse me? Me, kicking her out? Her birth parents showed up and wanted her back. Was I supposed to keep her here by force? Whose side are you on? I’m your wife. Why do you always defend that brat?”
Milana’s face twisted in annoyance. “A date? With who?”
Jenson just leaned back against the bench, closed his eyes, and let out a tired sigh. “I don’t know. She just left with a guy.”
Milana’s eyes went wide. “She just got out of the operating room and went off with a man? Do you even realize what time it is?”
“She’s not your daughter. Why do you care so much?”
Milana let out a cold laugh. “She’s so shameless. If she wasn’t Miracle Hands’ apprentice, I would never have let her operate on my son, no matter how much she begged. Absolutely disgusting.”
Meanwhile, Connor had asked Aiden to drive over in a luxury RV. Inside, the table was covered with delicious food, all kept warm and ready for Lydia. He’s so thoughtful and attentive, and Lydia couldn’t help but feel touched.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
