Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 244

Miranda could barely contain her excitement. “That’s perfect! But honestly, those first two men you sent were totally useless. They couldn’t even get one simple thing done. I don’t get how you ended up with such hopeless staff.”

Allen just laughed. “They couldn’t do anything right. I already put them on leave.”

Miranda grinned, feeling even more smug. Her brother was really something. Ever since he became deputy chief of the Fifth Division, their family had gotten so many perks. Everything was easier now, all thanks to him.

“Alright, Allen, make sure she confesses as soon as possible. I want her to get down on her knees and beg Louise for forgiveness. She can rot in jail for three or five years, and I want a ten million payout from her too!”

Nobody messes with her daughter or crosses the Reeves family without paying for it. She was going to make sure they never forgot it.

Lydia was quickly brought to the police station. Two officers walked on either side of her, keeping her boxed in, just in case she tried anything. She walked into the interrogation room, eyes full of contempt. Corbyn was already waiting for her, ready to take the lead.

“Yesterday at noon, you assaulted a girl. She’s still in the hospital getting treated. Did you know that?”

Lydia glanced up at the security camera, then pointed straight at it. “Why isn’t the camera on? Interrogations are supposed to be recorded for fairness and transparency. What you’re doing is illegal.”

Corbyn was caught off guard, surprised that someone her age even knew about things like that. He scoffed. “Just answer the question.”

“If you don’t turn on the camera, I don’t have to answer anything. Or what, are you planning to force a confession out of me?”

Corbyn’s face turned red with anger. He shot a look at one of the officers. The guy got up and switched the camera on.

“There. Now will you answer?”

“You’re threatening me in an interrogation room. That’s illegal. You know that, right?” Lydia shot back, voice steady.

Corbyn rolled his eyes. “Don’t get cocky just because you read a couple law books. Everything you know is just surface stuff. Cut the crap and sign the paper. If you don’t, your whole family’s going to pay.”

Lydia’s smile turned icy. “So let me get this straight. I’m supposed to kneel to Louise, confess to something I didn’t do, take the punishment, and pay ten million in medical bills.”

Corbyn shrugged. “You should be grateful. Sign it.”

Lydia arched her brow. “Honestly, how much water do you have sloshing around in your brain?”
