She was just a young girl, but somehow, even though Corbyn was the one doing the interrogating, it felt like she was running the show. Like she was the one putting him on trial.
“Breaking the law, making up charges, threatening suspects, trying to force a confession. Is this really a police station?” Lydia said, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she stared at Corbyn.
Corbyn finally lost his patience. He let out a cold laugh. “Are you messing with me?” Now it was clear. This girl was just playing games, mocking him right to his face. He had seen plenty like her before, and even wilder ones, but in the end, they always confessed.
“You only just figured that out?” Lydia shot back, not missing a beat.
Corbyn exploded. “Damn it!” He grabbed his baton and swung it at Lydia’s face without hesitation. He was never known for his temper, and now Lydia had pushed him way past his limit. Today, he’d show this brat how things worked.
He thought she’d finally give in after that, but to his shock, Lydia dodged in a flash. It was so quick, it almost didn’t seem real.
He paused, stunned. “You’re pretty quick, aren’t you?”
Before Lydia could answer, the door to the interrogation room burst open.
“Corbyn! Corbyn!”
Already on edge, Corbyn whipped around and snapped, “What are you yelling for? Can’t you see I’m in the middle of something?”
The officer at the door looked like he was about to cry. “Corbyn, that’s not it. The station is surrounded!”
Corbyn’s anger only grew. “Who the hell would dare surround our station? Are they out of their minds?”
Officer Byrne, who was watching the live feed on his phone, looked furious. It was complete chaos.
“When did you call them?” Corbyn was sure he’d watched her every second, except for when they first pulled her into the car and she glanced at her phone. Was it then? How did she manage it?
“Who are you, really?” Corbyn felt his legs go weak, his heart pounding.
Lydia finally smiled. “Parker is in prison because of me.”
It was like something inside Corbyn shattered. He could barely breathe. It was over.
Suddenly, a deep, commanding voice echoed from the hallway. “Corbyn!”
Corbyn knew that voice right away. It was Officer Byrne from the First Division. Even though both divisions had their own turf, the First Division had a much wider reach. They were the ones in charge, the ones who led and kept everyone else in line.

the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
