Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 368

Connor reached over and gently ruffled her hair. “You keep the money from selling the medicine. And feel free to use any herbs on Mount Gemspire you like.”

She shot him a look. “Wow, look at you, Mr. Generous.”

Connor’s smile widened. “Think of it as me paying your medical bills in advance. Come on, eat up.”

They finished eating, and by then it was already four in the morning.

“Go get some real sleep. You can deal with everything else when you wake up.”

“Yeah, okay.”

Lydia was running on fumes after two sleepless nights. All she wanted now was to crash and let her brain recover.

“Did you get the room ready?” she asked.

Damien nodded. “It’s all set. I’ll take you and Miss Lydia there now.”

“Alright.”

Damien led them to a suite with the best view on the whole mountain. The place was clearly meant for Connor.

Inside, it was as lavish and cozy as a presidential suite in a fancy hotel.

“You both get some good rest,” Damien said, giving Connor a look that Lydia couldn’t quite read.

She raised an eyebrow. “Only one room?”

Damien hesitated. “This is the only one that’s really suitable for you both.”

Connor chimed in. “You can have this room. I’ll find somewhere else.”

Lydia glanced around, taking in the luxury. “Let’s just share.”

Connor gave her a surprised look. Lydia shrugged. “You haven’t slept well these past couple of days either. Let’s both get a proper night’s sleep. We’ve got to go herb picking tomorrow.”

“Alright.”

Damien took the hint and left without another word.

The room was quiet, the soft lights making everything feel warm and dreamy.

Lydia looked over at Connor. “Do you want to shower first, or should I?”

When Lydia woke up, she realized she was tucked into a strong, warm embrace.

Connor felt her shift and looked down, his voice rough with sleep. “You’re awake?”

Lydia’s ears burned. She cleared her throat and nodded. “Yeah.”

She tried to slip out of his arms, but her hand accidentally brushed against something she definitely didn’t mean to touch.

The air between them instantly turned charged and awkward.

Lydia jerked her hand back like she’d been shocked, but the feeling lingered, making her heart race.

Connor finally snapped back to reality. He cleared his throat, trying to shake off the tension, but only managed a low, scratchy cough that sounded extra loud in the quiet room. He felt even more embarrassed.

Lydia risked a quick glance at him, just as his intense gaze landed on her.

She immediately looked away, trying to wriggle free, but Connor pulled her closer, not letting go.

“You kept me up all night, and now you want to run off the second you wake up?”

He honestly hadn’t expected Lydia, who always seemed so calm and proper, to be such a clingy little octopus in her sleep.
