Lucinda never expected her grandfather to change his mind about Lydia so completely. If this kept up, Lydia might soon become his favorite. That was something Lucinda absolutely couldn’t accept.
She blinked hard, letting her eyes fill with tears as she lowered her head, her voice soft and trembling. “I’m sorry, Grandpa. I guess I overthink things sometimes. It’s just... I’m not as good as my sister, and I worry you’ll all love her more and forget about me.”
Mr. Norwood’s heart ached at the sight of his cherished granddaughter crying. He reached out, his voice gentle and full of affection. “Lucinda, don’t think like that. Before your sister came back, all of our love was for you alone.
“Now that she’s home, yes, we share some of that love with her, but we haven’t stopped caring for you. You’re both Norwood granddaughters, you know that, right?”
If he’d said this to her before, maybe Lucinda would have believed him. But now? Not a chance.
They’d given all their affection to Lydia, leaving Lucinda with nothing. Did anyone in this family really care about her anymore? Only Grace ever stood by her, while everyone else had already picked Lydia’s side.
Of course Lucinda would never say this to her grandfather’s face.
When Tina heard the news, she frowned hard. Lucinda used to be obsessed with Connor, and now that Connor was into Lydia, she just switched to Mikey? It wasn’t about love. She just wanted the Jefferson family’s name and the life that came with it. She didn’t care who she had to marry, as long as she became Mrs. Jefferson.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
