Now that she knew Jenny and Ms. L were on the same team, Evalina felt even more convinced. Miss L was ignoring the competition rules and showing obvious favoritism.
Lydia spoke up, her voice direct and unwavering. “First, I don’t really know you. You had an interview at my company once, but you didn’t meet our standards so we didn’t hire you. Maybe you should look at your own shortcomings instead of blaming me for your failures and throwing around wild accusations.”
She continued, “Second, Jenny graduated from our country’s top fashion design institute. That’s right there in her contestant profile. You calling her a receptionist doesn’t change the facts. When you came to interview, Jenny was at the front desk because we were short-handed that day and she stepped in to help. She’s there because she’s capable and, yes, she’s pretty too.
“Is it really so hard to admit that someone is just better than you? I wasn’t the only one who picked Jenny’s work. The whole panel and the audience loved it. That’s all her own talent. The truth is, you’re less skilled, you’re petty, and you act like the world owes you something. Honestly, having someone like you around is embarrassing for all of us. I’m truly glad we didn’t hire you.”
The entire hall erupted. People could hardly believe what they’d just witnessed.
Was this really Miss L? She just completely roasted Sierra—in public, no less. The crowd was buzzing with excitement.
Sierra stood there, dazed. By the time she processed Lydia’s words, her face was pale and her hands were shaking with anger.
Too much. This was way too much! Lydia had just ripped her to shreds in front of everyone.
Luna jumped in, refusing to let the topic drop. “So, what’s the connection between Mr. Norwood and Miss L’s company then?” If Blake hadn’t voted for Jenny first, Jenny never would’ve beaten Evalina for first place.
Blake’s mind was racing. Wait, Jenny works at Greenward Power? And Miss L is the new CEO? That means…
He remembered his parents mentioning that his little sister had taken over Greenward Power.
Lydia’s eyes widened in shock. Was Sierra really saying that the judge in seat one—Blake Norwood—was the head of Norwood Enterprises? Her brother? Blake?
Everything was about to change.

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
