Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 443

“Lydia, we did it! We actually won!” Chris could barely contain his excitement. He still couldn't believe it. Lydia really was something else. She’d just shown them a couple of tricks, and suddenly, they’d gone out there and crushed the competition. She was a legend.

Lydia just smiled, calm as ever. “Don’t get cocky. Keep your head in the game and do your best again tomorrow.”

“I know,” Chris said, grinning from ear to ear.

Connor shot Chris a look. “Next time someone pushes you around, don’t go telling people you’re my brother.”

Honestly, Connor thought, his little brother was kind of a pushover. Maybe he needed to toughen up a bit.

“Come on, it’s not like that. I wasn’t the one getting bullied. They just go after my teammates because they know I won’t back down. It’s the same old thing. They’re just like Neil—always picking on the weak.”

Whatever, though. Tonight, they’d given Rory and his crew a taste of their own medicine, and it felt incredible.

“They’re still over there. They can’t even show their faces right now,” Chris said, unable to hide his satisfaction.

Lydia’s lips curled up in a sly smile. “Forget about them. Tomorrow, beat them again, right in front of everyone. That will give them something to really cry about.”

Chris nodded, looking determined. “Definitely.”

Then he glanced at Lydia, a little embarrassed. “You guys haven’t eaten yet, right? Want to grab dinner together? We should celebrate.”

Beating the Team Country D tonight had been the best feeling. That team was always their fiercest rival. To take them down so easily? Chris felt like he was floating.

Lydia was about to agree when her phone started ringing in her pocket.

She checked the screen. It was Kylie.

“Hi Mom,” Lydia said, answering politely.

As soon as the call ended, Connor turned to Aiden. “Book a restaurant near the Eiffel Tower. Right now. I don’t care about the cost. Book the whole place.”

Getting a reservation would be tough this late for normal people, but for Connor, buying out a restaurant was nothing.

Aiden nodded right away. “Yes, boss!” He knew this was a big deal. The boss was about to treat his future in-laws. Everything had to be perfect.

Meanwhile, Kylie smiled at Cameron and Lucinda. “Lydia said she’s with Connor now, and he’s going to treat us to dinner. She’ll send us the address soon.”

Cameron burst out laughing. “Now that’s a man who knows what he’s doing.”

Lucinda immediately pouted, jealousy written all over her face. “Mom, Dad, does that mean Lydia’s been with Connor this whole time?”

Her meaning was obvious. Were they spending every night together? Did Lydia even care about her reputation?
