Lucinda knew exactly what she was doing. She wanted Richie to see the real Lydia, to realize that not long ago, Lydia looked down on him, and now she was trying to cozy up to him. It was pathetic, honestly. Lucinda was determined to show everyone Lydia’s true colors, especially Richie, so he’d never even consider taking Lydia as a student.
But the moment Lucinda finished, the whole room just stared at her. It was as if she’d suddenly started speaking a different language. Did she even know what she was saying?
Juliette couldn’t help but let out a little laugh, her eyes full of mischief. “You mean to tell me you didn’t know your sister can play the piano?”
Juliette knew Lydia liked to keep things quiet, but this? This was next-level. Was Lydia really so good at hiding things that even her own family didn’t know she was Melody Mastro?
Lucinda almost wanted to laugh out loud too. Lydia, playing the piano? Please. That had to be another one of her stories. Lydia was always making things up, always trying to sound important. Did she really think people like Richie or Juliette would fall for her act?
“What? My sister, play the piano? Ma’am, you must be mistaken. She doesn’t know a thing about it,” Lucinda said, shaking her head.
The people around her started to snicker, and Lucinda was sure they were laughing at Lydia. She thought she’d finally exposed Lydia’s lies, but then she noticed the looks they were giving her. Something didn’t feel right.
Wasn’t she right?
Kylie stepped in, her voice gentle but firm. “Lucinda, your sister does know how to play.”
Lucinda just stared at her mom, refusing to believe it. “How? Have you ever even heard her play?”
Grace suddenly hurried over, eager to back Lucinda up. “Yes, Mrs. Norwood, Mr. Norwood, Lydia’s been home for ages. We’ve never seen her touch the piano, not even once.”
Lucinda had finally won an international piano competition, and Grace wasn’t about to let Lydia do something to steal her moment.
Blake shot Grace a cold look. “You should be somewhere else. Why are you here?”
Grace was just a servant, meant to help Lucinda backstage, not show up in the main hall. And questioning Lydia out in the open? Who did she think she was?
“Lydia, you think you can play that piece better than me?” Lucinda asked, convinced Lydia was completely delusional.
Lydia nodded. “Of course. Don’t believe me?”
Lucinda gave a cold little laugh. “Do you even know who helped me with that piece?”
Lydia didn’t even flinch. “I don’t care who helped you. All I know is, I can play it better.”
Lucinda could feel her anger boiling over. “Fine. If you’re really that confident, let’s have a little contest.”
Lydia smiled, cool as ever. “Sure. And if I win, you better kneel, serve me tea, and call me Grandmaster.”
The second she said it, Lucinda glanced at Richie. She knew Lydia wasn’t just challenging her, she was challenging Richie, too.

the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
