She’d given up a kidney for Luke, all for half the company’s assets. Now that Smith Corporation was about to go under, there was no way she could just sit around. The last thing she wanted was to lose her kidney and end up with nothing to show for it.

“Grandma, you want to leave your shares to your granddaughter, right? I’m your real granddaughter. If you give them to me, I promise I’ll take care of you for the rest of your life.” Sandy stood in the courtyard, her voice ringing out.

Jenson and Milana didn’t want Mrs. Smith handing those shares to Sandy, but at this point, they were desperate. They had no choice but to chime in.

“Mom, Sandy is your real granddaughter. You aren’t seriously thinking about giving your shares to some outsider, are you?”

“That’s right, Mom. Smith Corporation is about to go bankrupt. Are you really going to just watch everything you’ve built get destroyed?”

They shouted themselves hoarse out in the yard, but Mrs. Smith inside the house didn’t react at all. She acted like they didn’t even exist, letting them yell and make a scene while she ignored every word.

Connor’s men stood firmly by the door, one on each side, blocking them from going any further.

Jenson and Milana were furious. Mrs. Smith was so stubborn, Jenson finally snapped and shouted, “I’m your own son! Your legal successor! Whether you admit it or not, that’s the law. And who the hell is Lydia? How can you throw away your own son and grandson for some stranger? You must be losing your mind!”

Sandy crossed her arms and shot them a mocking look. “You call yourselves her family? And yet she treats you worse than an outsider. I honestly don’t know how you two managed that.”

Milana, already at her breaking point, jumped up and jabbed a finger in Sandy’s face. “Don’t think giving Luke a kidney means you can do whatever you want! If Smith Corporation goes under, you won’t get a dime!”

Sandy just scoffed. “If I get nothing, what do you think you’ll get? The so-called richest family in Lakeview Town is just an empty shell now.”

If she’d known things would turn out like this, she never would have donated that kidney. She should have just let them fend for themselves.

Jenson was so angry he could barely breathe. “Shut up!”

While the three of them argued, the sudden sound of a helicopter roared overhead. They all looked up and watched as it landed on the little square just outside the courtyard.

Lydia didn’t waste a second. She pulled out a custom-made sleeve gun and pointed it straight at them.

The three of them jumped back in shock.

“Lydia! What do you wanna do? If you try anything, we’ll call the police!” Milana shrieked, scrambling to hide behind Jenson.

But Jenson, after what happened with Connor, wasn’t about to play hero. He grabbed Milana, and the two of them huddled behind Sandy.

Sandy was speechless.

Lydia raised an eyebrow and smirked. “These are your real parents?”
