Lydia let out a little hum. “They value their own lives a lot.”
“Alright, alright, I get it. But hey, babe, Ethan told me you’re in a relationship now. Is that for real? Are we talking about someone chasing you, or is he an actual boyfriend?”
Juna had only learned about Lydia’s new romance because she’d talked to Ethan on the phone, who let it slip that Lydia had been in France with her boyfriend.
A boyfriend? Juna was dying to know. Who could possibly win over their ice queen?
Lydia thought for a moment. “I’ll introduce you one day.”
That was all Juna needed for confirmation. “No way. You’re serious?”
“We’ll talk when we meet.”
Lydia hung up. Connor, who was walking beside her, tried to hide his smile.
She shot him a look. “You are just my boyfriend. Don’t get too excited.”
The message was clear. If Connor didn’t step up, the boyfriend title could be gone in a heartbeat.
Connor gently took her hand, his voice steady. “I’d do anything to make you a part of my family.”
She got Connor settled in, then drove back to the Norwood house. As soon as she pulled up, her phone rang again. She glanced at the screen. Ethan. Lydia raised an eyebrow. She already had a feeling Jenson was acting up.
Sure enough, the moment she answered, Ethan sounded completely exasperated. “Lydia, your adoptive father is making a scene at the office. He’s saying we’re out to get him, and he insists on seeing you. He even climbed onto the skylight and says if you don’t show, he’ll jump down from there. Honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. Can you tell me?”
Mr. Norwood nodded, pleased. “Go on.”
Lucinda’s change made him happy. When Lydia first came back, he couldn’t accept her at all. But now, he’d slowly come to embrace her as his granddaughter, loving both Lydia and Lucinda just the same. He hoped Lucinda, who had always been spoiled by the family, would be able to figure things out and get along with Lydia. He wanted the family to be as close as they once were.
“Lydia, you’re back! How’s Connor doing? Is he recovering well?”
Whenever they saw Lydia, Cameron and Kylie’s faces would light up, their eyes warm and kind.
“It’s nothing serious. Don’t worry. He’ll be back to normal in a few days.”
Kylie watched Lydia with concern. “You’ve gotten so thin lately, Lydia. Take a few days to rest at home. I’ll have the kitchen make you something nourishing. You need to take care of yourself.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
