Juna leaned in close to Lydia and whispered, “Looks like he is really set on winning this for you. Maybe you should just let him have it.” Sure, all the money was going to charity, but they couldn’t just keep outbidding each other. Lydia sighed and decided to give in. If her dad wanted her to have it this badly, there was no reason to keep fighting.
Everyone watched, waiting for Lydia to raise her paddle again. But after a moment, she didn’t move. The auctioneer’s voice rang out, “One hundred million, once. One hundred million, twice. One hundred million, sold!”
Instead of saying Lydia didn’t have enough money, the crowd actually started complimenting her. “Miss L is so gracious, stepping aside for the richest man in the country.” “She really has a big heart. It’s amazing to see someone let go so easily.”
Mrs. Trebel leaned over to Kylie and gushed, “I never realized Miss L was so generous. Just giving up the painting like that—she’s incredible.”
Lucinda could barely hide her annoyance. She really wanted to tell Mrs. Trebel to stop talking. Kylie just smiled and nodded. “Yes, Lydia… Miss L is truly something else.”
Lydia didn’t win the painting. Sitting in the back, Jenson and Milana could hardly contain their disdain. “Miss L, huh? Maybe she’s a fake. Can’t even put up a hundred million?” Milana muttered.
Jenson shook his head, looking disappointed. Only a hundred million and she gave up?
“She probably got scared Cameron would keep raising the price and she’d be stuck with it. So she quit while she could,” Jenson said.
Milana rolled her eyes. “So what if she’s famous? The moment she goes up against real money, she can’t compete.”
Sandy snorted. “Didn’t she act all high and mighty at that black market auction with the golden antler? Where’s that attitude now? Maybe being Miss L isn’t such a big deal after all.”
“She’s so fake. We have to expose her in front of everyone,” Milana said through gritted teeth.
Sandy shook her head. “If we do that now, who’s going to shop at LYLX later?”
Jenson nodded. “Yeah, we should handle it in private. If we ruin LYLX’s reputation, what’s the point of taking it over?”
Milana scowled, but finally agreed. “Fine. She gets a pass tonight.”
After the donations, there was a performance to thank everyone, and the charity gala started winding down. Lydia went to the restroom with Juna. When they came back out, three people blocked the hallway. Jenson, Milana, and Sandy were waiting for them.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
