Juna was honestly at her wit’s end. If it hadn’t been for Lydia, she never would have wasted her time on these two clowns. Now, after kicking their own lucky charm out the door, they were throwing a fit and acting like the world was ending. And when they found out Lydia was Miss L, they actually had the nerve to claim LYLX belonged to the Smith family. Seriously, Juna wanted the heavens to just strike them with lightning, crack their heads open, and show everyone what kind of nonsense was rattling around inside.
Jenson and Milana just stood there, totally stunned by Juna’s words. What was she even saying? Was she implying that every time Smith Corporation dodged a disaster, it was actually Lydia helping out behind the scenes? That couldn’t be real.
“Impossible! There’s no way that’s true!” Milana shook her head, looking like her entire world had just turned upside down.
Juna just snorted. “Yeah whatever. Your thoughts makes zero difference to Lydia.”
Watching these two act like this, Juna honestly felt sorry for Lydia. How did she end up with such a bizarre pair for adoptive parents?
When Juna started to leave with Lydia, Jenson panicked. “Lydia! Wait, please!”
He rushed over, blocking their way, his face tight with anxiety as he tried to force a friendly smile. “Lydia, I… I had no idea you were helping us behind the scenes. Really, I didn’t know.”
Milana couldn’t take it anymore. “Jenson, what are you talking about? She’s the reason the company almost went under! You think she actually wanted to help us? She must have had some other agenda!”
“Shut up!” Jenson snapped.
Milana’s face went pale, then bright red, like she was about to explode.
“Lydia, we… we are sorry. We shouldn’t have sent you back to your birth family. We didn’t see what was right in front of us. But still, we raised you for eighteen years…”
“No, you didn’t,” Lydia said, her voice icy. “Grandma raised me for eighteen years. You had nothing to do with it.”
“Enough. Just stop.”
Milana didn’t even get to finish before Jenson slapped her hard across the face. The sound echoed in the room, and she froze, clutching her burning cheek, her eyes wide in disbelief. “You… you hit me?”
Jenson’s face was red with anger. “I hit you because you’re being ridiculous!”
Milana realized he was really furious. She kept quiet, but the look she threw Lydia could have poisoned the air.
“Lydia, we know we messed up before. But the company… it was your grandmother’s whole life. We can’t lose it. Can you please ask LYLX to start working with Smith Corporation again?”
Jenson couldn’t help remembering all those times the company had nearly gone under, only to be saved at the last minute by some invisible hand. Back then, he’d actually thought it was fate or luck on their side.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
