Sandy never expected Mrs. Smith to catch on so quickly. With just a few words, she understood exactly what Sandy meant.
Sandy’s eyes were pleading, her voice trembling with emotion. “Grandma, I’m not after your money. I just… I want to become Miracle Hands’ apprentice. Please, Grandma, can you ask Miracle Hands to take me in? I swear I’ll work hard, really learn everything, then use my skills to give back. I’m begging you.”
She dropped to her knees, the sound echoing against the tiles.
Mrs. Smith frowned. “You want to be Miracle Hands’ student?”
“Yes. I really, really do. Grandma, I already got into Capital Med School, the same one as my sister. My sister’s amazing. I want to be just like her, with Miracle Hands as my teacher. Please, Grandma, help me out.”
Mrs. Smith listened, a knowing look in her eyes.
“So, you’re saying Lyds is Miracle Hands’ student?”
She hadn’t even heard that Sandy got into Capital Med School.
Sandy hesitated. “She… isn’t?”
Mrs. Smith understood right away. Of course, Lyds hadn’t told anyone who she really was. That girl was always so humble.
If it were anyone else with her talent, the whole city would know by now.
But Mrs. Smith actually liked Lydia’s way of doing things. Sometimes, being too outstanding just attracts trouble.
“It’s great you got into Capital Med. But I can’t introduce you to Miracle Hands. That’s not something I can do.”
Lydia would never accept her as a student.
Sandy didn’t expect such a flat-out refusal. She stared, confused. “But Grandma, you know Miracle Hands, right? Isn’t it just a simple introduction? I’m serious. I want to learn.”
Mrs. Smith just shook her head. “You’ve been accepted at Capital Med. Focus on your studies there. There are so many great teachers. Don’t ask about Miracle Hands again.”
She turned and walked back inside. Sandy stayed on her knees, stubborn as ever. “Grandma, if you don’t agree, I’m not getting up.”
Mrs. Smith’s sigh drifted out from the house. “If you want to kneel, I can’t stop you.”

Lydia went over to Connor’s place, same as always, to give him his acupuncture treatment.
It was just the start of the first round, so there weren’t any big changes yet, but Connor had noticed something at night. His world wasn’t pitch black anymore.
At that, Lydia’s face fell.
Jenson and Milana really wouldn’t quit. And the Lanes, too. Always so quick to show up.
“Toss them all out.”
Her voice was icy. Aiden paused for a second, then realized Lydia was in the middle of treating his boss.
“The Lanes already got chewed out by Mrs. Smith. Jenson and Milana were thrown out by the bodyguards. But Sandy’s still kneeling in the courtyard. Won’t budge no matter what. The old lady said if she wants to kneel, just let her kneel.”
Lydia raised an eyebrow. Sandy was still at it?
“What does she want?”
“She’s begging the old lady to introduce her to Miracle Hands. Wants to be Miracle Hands’ apprentice.”
Aiden sounded just as exasperated as Lydia felt. The Smiths were something else.
Jenson and Milana had been searching everywhere for Miss L, never guessing she was the very Lydia they’d always looked down on.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
