Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 617

“Mrs. Smith was a brilliant woman. How did she end up with such cruel and ungrateful children?”

“Seriously, she built Smith Corporation from the ground up and trusted her son and daughter-in-law to run it. This is how they repay her?”

“They’re monsters!”

“No wonder Smith Corporation is always on the verge of a financial crisis but somehow manages to recover. Turns out they were secretly selling off the old lady’s shares behind everyone’s back.”

“Who would ever want to do business with people like that?”

“Exactly. If you can’t be trusted, you have nothing. With a reputation like theirs, I wouldn’t go near them.”

Whispers and accusations filled the room. The tension was so thick, it felt like the walls were closing in.

Milana was shaking with anger. For a second, it looked like she might pass out. She jabbed her finger in Lydia’s direction, her voice sharp and desperate. “Lydia, you ungrateful brat, how could I have wasted eighteen years raising you? Are you really standing here, making up lies about us just to steal your grandmother’s inheritance?”

She turned to the crowd, her eyes wild. “Don’t listen to her! She’s only saying this because she wants the old lady’s money. She’ll do anything to get her hands on it!”

Lydia’s expression turned icy. “You want to talk about doing anything for money? Who was it that would rather kill for an inheritance? You really think nobody knows what you’ve done?”

Gasps rippled across the room. People stared at Milana and Jenson, their faces filled with shock and suspicion.

What was Lydia saying? Did these two actually hurt Mrs. Smith for her fortune?

Someone whispered, “That’s not just cruel. That’s inhuman.”

Lydia’s voice was calm and steady. “It’s too late for regrets. You and Jenson first plotted against Grandma. When she was in a coma, you secretly transferred her assets, sold her shares. I have the evidence, I have the witnesses. So, tell me, are you going to the police station yourselves, or should I call them here? Your choice.”

The room fell silent. Everyone was stunned, hanging on Lydia’s every word.

Jenson shot to his feet, his face red with fury. He pointed right at Lydia, his hand shaking. “Lydia, stop with your nonsense. Your grandmother fell down the stairs. It was an accident. None of this is our fault. And as for the inheritance, I am her only son. It’s only right that I get her assets. Who are you to interfere? You’re not even family!”

He was so angry, it was like his head would explode.

Lydia shot him a withering look. “I never believed that Grandma just fell on her own. The truth is out now—the whole thing was planned. Someone wanted her out of the way.”

Jenson pressed a hand to his chest, breathing hard. “I’m not scared of you, Lydia. If you want to take this to court, go ahead. I’m Grandma’s legal heir. You’re just an outsider. You have no claim, no matter how loud you shout.”
