Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 635

"I'm not blind, you know. If you can see what's going on, are you really just going to let it happen?"

Elliot shrugged. "And what's so wrong with it? I think it's fine. You got a problem with that?"

Nathaniel just stared at him, totally at a loss. "No. No problem at all. None. Weren't you all planning to watch a movie tonight? Fine. My treat. The whole theater's yours. Let's all watch it together."

He honestly felt like he might lose his mind if he kept talking to Elliot. The guy seemed sharp, but when it came to important stuff, he just turned clueless. Or maybe the Norwood family was too scared of Connor to do anything about it, just letting him have everything he wanted. If that was true, Connor was really living the dream. Most guys could only wish for a life like his.

Lydia, Connor, and Elliot had come just to see Elliot’s new movie anyway, so they all sat back down without a fuss. They had tickets already, after all.

Nathaniel watched Lydia settle between Elliot and Connor. After thinking for a second, he slipped into the seat on Elliot’s other side.

Elliot reached over and offered Lydia some popcorn, his voice soft and full of warmth. "Lydia, want some popcorn?"

Nathaniel just stared, speechless.

Lydia took the popcorn and smiled. "Thanks, Elliot."

Elliot’s movie was a detective thriller, with Elliot playing Hayden, a private investigator who gets a mysterious letter about a strange death in a small town. When Hayden arrives, everything feels off in the town, and everyone seems to be hiding something. He goes around, asking questions and gathering clues. The whole film was tense, exciting, and kept you guessing the whole time. No wonder it made so much money on its first day.

When the credits rolled, Nathaniel turned to Elliot with genuine admiration. "You were really good."

Elliot shot back, "If I wasn’t, how would your theater make any money?"

Nathaniel just rolled his eyes.

As Lydia and Connor stood up to leave, a middle-aged man in a suit ran in, looking frantic. "Sir, something’s wrong! Your mother’s having an asthma attack! The ambulance is on its way, but you need to come now!"

Nathaniel’s face twisted in disbelief. "Are you kidding me?"

Lydia stepped forward, calm and determined. "He’s not. Take me to her, now."

Whatever was going on between the Norwood and Robinson families, Nathaniel’s mom was still technically her aunt. Lydia was here, and she wasn’t the type to turn her back when someone needed help.

Asthma might be a chronic illness, but if it got serious, the airways could spasm and narrow so much that the person could hardly breathe at all. They’d start gasping for air, breathing faster and faster, struggling with every breath. Without quick treatment, their body could run out of oxygen and go into respiratory failure, or even cardiac arrest. It was life or death.

Nathaniel stared at Lydia, uncertain. "Are you serious?"

Lydia shot him an impatient look. "Stop talking. Take me to her."

Seeing Lydia’s expression, Nathaniel grabbed her wrist, barely holding it together. "Come on! If you can save my mom, I’ll get down on my knees and call you my hero."
