Elliot picked up right away, and Leo’s voice practically exploded through the phone. “Elliot, are you serious? Melody Mastro actually wrote a song for you? Are you messing with me? I get back from a business trip and this is the news you hit me with?”
Elliot let out a smug little hum. “Why would I lie? I already told the company.”
Leo was practically shouting, he was so hyped. “No way, that's amazing! How did you convince that stubborn diva?”
Lydia raised an eyebrow. Stubborn diva?
The room was so quiet that even though she and Connor were sitting off to the side, they could hear every word Leo was saying.
Elliot wasn’t having it. “Who are you calling a stubborn diva?”
Leo had tried to work with Melody Mastro so many times over the years, and every single time she’d turned him down flat. He was always complaining to Elliot that she was impossible, but Elliot had never snapped at him like this before.
“Alright, alright, my bad,” Leo backpedaled. “As long as she’s writing for you, I swear I’ll drop it.”
Lydia’s eyebrow went up even higher. So, Leo had been complaining about her for ages? And Elliot had just let it slide?
Elliot wanted to protest. He had never said anything. It was all Leo.
“If that’s it, I’m hanging up,” Elliot said. He really didn’t want to keep talking. If he let Leo keep going, Leo would be digging more holes for him to jump into.
“Wait, hold up! One more thing!” Leo yelled before Elliot could end the call.
Already annoyed, Elliot grumbled, “What now?”
“I heard Lorelei agreed to perform at your concert?”
Elliot’s chin went even higher. “Yep. It’s gonna be epic.”
Lorelei?
He didn’t follow celebrities, but everyone knew Lorelei. She was a legend. Even the Jefferson Group, with all its power, had tried and failed to sign her. The rejection was famous.
He never would’ve guessed Lorelei was actually Lydia.
Lydia noticed his stare and smiled. “Have you seen enough?”
Connor was honest. “Never.”
Lydia just shook her head.
While Elliot was still silent, Leo picked up on the woman’s voice and got even more excited. “Elliot! Is she really your sister? Are you with her right now? Hurry up and introduce me!”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
