Kylie took a slow walk around the dorm room, taking in the space. It was decent, clean, bright enough, but the lack of a private washer and dryer was impossible to ignore. She remembered the dorm supervisor mentioning something about a communal laundry room for each building, but the idea of sharing with all those students just seemed like such a hassle.
“Lydia, everything about Capital Med School’s dorms is nice, but there’s no washer or dryer? You’ll be here for years. That’s just not convenient.”
Lydia shrugged like it was nothing. “It’s fine, Mom. Everybody gets by.”
Kylie paused for a second, thinking it over. “When we get home, I’ll have your dad donate a washer and dryer for every room. The balcony looks big enough for them. We’ll get it sorted before it starts getting cold.”
Lydia blinked, but she didn’t object. If her mom wanted to be generous, she’d let her. She’d just call it charity work. Her mom always thought of everything.
Kylie got right to work, making Lydia’s bed and unpacking her things. Lydia only had three boxes and one of them was all bedding, so it didn’t take long at all.
“Mom, I can handle the rest,” Lydia said, gently nudging her mother aside.
Kylie looked reluctant to leave, but they still had to take Lucinda to her school, so she didn’t stay much longer. Before heading out, she fussed over Lydia one last time. “Take care of yourself, okay? Don’t push yourself too hard. If you’re not too busy at night, you can always come home.”
Lydia smiled. “Got it.”
As soon as Kylie left, two girls came in together, each hauling two big suitcases.
“Room 209. This is it.”
They opened the door and saw Lydia at her desk, sorting books. “Wow, you’re early.”
Lydia turned around and for a moment, both girls just stared. Was this really their roommate? She was stunning, and something about her just seemed so graceful and put-together. It was almost intimidating.
“Hi,” Lydia said, her voice calm and even, noticing their stares.
“No way, did I actually hear that right? We get to share a dorm with a medical genius?”
“This is unreal. Daisy, we’re definitely going to be asking you for help. I hope you won’t mind.”
Daisy smiled modestly. “Of course not. If you ever get stuck or need help, just ask me.”
As she spoke, Daisy glanced over at Lydia, who looked completely unfazed, which was not what she expected. Most people, when they met Daisy for the first time, would react just like Monica and Fiona. But Lydia didn’t even look her way again. She just turned back to her desk, only to be interrupted by her phone ringing.
She checked the screen. Connor. Without a word, she stepped out onto the balcony with her phone.
As Lydia passed by, Daisy’s eyes flashed with a hint of annoyance, but she quickly turned back to Monica and Fiona with a bright, friendly smile. “So, what are your names?”

thank u!...

the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
