Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 675

If Yara really was behind this, she had gone way too far. Why should she be the only one allowed in the running? Why couldn’t anyone choose Lydia? It felt like she was running the whole school like her own little kingdom. Just because her grandfather was the vice principal, did that mean she could ignore what everyone else wanted? She even wiped out every bit of news about Lydia.

Lydia didn’t seem bothered at all. She just shrugged. “Honestly, this is fine. I never wanted to be in some campus queen contest anyway.”

Daisy jumped in right away, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Oh, please. Is it because you know you can’t win?”

“I’m giving you the shot,” Lydia replied, half smiling, half not, her words landing like a slap.

It stung. Daisy was only in third place now. Forget about beating Yara, she couldn’t even get past Rosie, who was in second. Her face went from red to white, then back again. She gave a sharp little huff. “I don’t care about this childish stuff. We’re here to study medicine, to actually help people. Who cares about campus queens? Skill is what matters.”

Even if she didn’t win the contest, everyone already knew she was a genius. But Lydia? What did she have? So what if she got the highest score in the country? That was nothing to brag about. There were even rumors she had cheated on the exams. Who could say for sure? Maybe she really had.

Just wait. Once orientation was over and real classes began, Daisy was going to prove that Lydia was nowhere near her level. She’d make sure everyone saw it too.

Monica and Fiona were fuming. Two girls from their dorm were up for campus queen, but now Lydia was being pushed out, and Daisy… well, there wasn’t much hope for her either. They wanted to say something, but what was the point? Yara had connections, and that was that.

That night, Lydia had a bit of fruit for dinner, grabbed her bag, and headed off to the lab.

Capital Med School’s principal, Kevin, was already waiting outside the lab. His hair was white, but he looked as lively as ever, standing there with his hands behind his back, eyes bright with excitement. When he saw Lydia walking out of the shadows, tall and cool, he practically lit up. “Lydia, you’re finally here! I’ve been waiting for you, kiddo.”

She wore a cap and a mask, but when she got close, she pulled the mask off and smiled. “Grandpa Kevin.”

His grin was huge. “Let’s get a photo together and send it to the group chat. I’m gonna make the others jealous.”

Finn: [Let him have his moment. Just wait until Lydia graduates. He’ll be crying then.]

Kevin sent his little bomb into the chat and, still grinning, took Lydia into the lab to get to work.

Lydia let her fingers brush over the machines, feeling the familiar hum of excitement. She could finally get back to what she loved.

Kevin watched her with a gentle smile, but his tone became serious. “Lydia, you mentioned before that you’d seen the P-K55 virus in the Triangle. It’s shown up again, right on our border.”

Lydia frowned. “How many cases?”

Kevin shook his head. “The report says seven, but no one’s sure. If that virus spreads here, the consequences are unthinkable. The government is already quietly looking for Miracle Hands.”
