Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 693

He didn’t wait for anyone else. He just pulled out a chair and made himself comfortable.

Within minutes, photos of Lydia and Jay sitting together at lunch exploded all over the school forum. Some people had been rooting for Jay and Daisy, but that changed in an instant.

Jay had gone out of his way to talk to Lydia.

Daisy was so mad she almost slammed her lunch tray onto the floor. Why were guys always like this? You could show them you care, bring them water, look out for them, and they’d still chase after the girl who barely gave them the time of day.

On the other side of the world, Connor had just wrapped up a meeting when his phone started buzzing nonstop. He glanced at the screen. It was a message from his grandfather, and there was a photo attached.

He opened it. The second he saw the girl he’d been missing so much sitting across from another guy at lunch, his whole face tightened with a frown.

Jay? What was he doing at Capital Med School? Why did this guy turn up everywhere he went?

Connor jumped onto the Capital Med School forum. Every post he saw was about Lydia and Jay.

Stuff like: [Capital Med School’s Hottest Instructor Hits on Lydia] and [Lunch Date Spotted: Lydia and the Hottest Instructor].

The more he scrolled, the deeper his frown got. He couldn’t even concentrate on work anymore.

Jay was seriously out of line. Connor was out of the country, so he thought he could swoop in and become Lydia’s instructor?

Without thinking, Connor tried to video call her.

Lydia had just finished lunch and was still in the cafeteria when her phone lit up with Connor’s call. She hesitated and didn’t answer. The place was packed with students. If she picked up a video call now, everyone would figure out she was dating Connor.

But the longer she refused to answer, the more anxious Connor got. He couldn’t stop picturing Lydia and Jay together. Maybe he shouldn’t have left for this business trip. Maybe he needed to stay by Lydia’s side all the time.

When Lydia finally got back to her dorm, she didn’t call Connor right away. She took a quick shower, then put on her headphones and called him back.

He picked up after barely one ring.

Connor sounded pretty defeated. “So what am I supposed to do when I can’t sleep at night?”

He just couldn’t relax. Too many people wanted to take Lydia away from him. After this business trip, he promised himself he’d never stay away this long again.

Lydia caught the meaning behind his words. “You should count sheep,” she teased.

They chatted for another ten minutes or so before Connor finally, and very reluctantly, hung up.

The second he ended the call, he called for Aiden and let him have it. “Didn’t I tell you to look into Jay? How did you miss that he went to Capital Med School to be Lydia’s instructor?”

Aiden was totally shocked. “Wait, Jay’s Lydia’s instructor now?”

Was this guy really trying to steal his boss’ girl right out in the open?
