Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 700

Grace scrolled through the Capital Med School forum, her mood getting better and better with every post. The more she read, the more she grinned. Did Lydia really think that just because she scored a perfect ten, she’d be untouchable? That everyone would admire her and she’d be the school’s golden girl? Please. If only she could see how many people were dragging her name through the mud right now.

She totally deserved it, too. She’s so arrogant, acting like she was better than everyone else. Grace hoped people from every school would pile on and ruin Lydia’s reputation for good.

She had another plan, too. This time, she was going to stir up drama about Lydia and her instructor. If Connor liked Lydia so much, maybe he should see for himself how easily she flirted with other men. And Grandpa Samuel wanted Lydia to marry into the Jefferson family, right? He was so blind. He had Lucinda right in front of him and still chose Lydia, who was nothing special.

Grace had waited so long for this. Finally, she could sit back and watch everything blow up in Lydia’s face.

But then she paused. Something about Lydia’s supposed instructor, the one in all the rumors, seemed familiar. Grace stared at Jay’s face in a photo, squinting and trying to remember where she’d seen him before. No matter how much she tried, she just couldn’t place it.

Whatever. It didn’t matter. Lydia was acting out of line, cozying up to her instructor and crossing boundaries. This was a perfect chance for everyone to see her for who she really was.

Right as Grace was thinking this, Lucinda’s message popped up. Grace opened it and couldn’t help but smile even wider. She typed back quickly: [Just watch. The real show is just starting. Lydia is out here showing off her status as Connor’s fiancée while messing around with her instructor. She’s basically digging her own grave.]

Daisy, especially, had changed her tune. She was on her best behavior, but when it came to Jay, she went above and beyond. She’d buy him water, bring him food in the cafeteria, and always found excuses to talk to him alone during training. It was obvious to everyone that she was trying to win him over.

Jay, though, stayed distant and cool. He never seemed moved by anything Daisy did. People started to wonder if Daisy’s efforts were getting through to him at all, or if he was still hung up on Lydia. After all, he’d tried to talk to Lydia more than once, and sometimes he’d even offer her the water Daisy brought him. Lydia always turned him down, not interested in the slightest.

That drove Daisy crazy. She couldn’t figure out what made Lydia so special. Why did Jay ignore her kindness and keep chasing after Lydia? Daisy came from a good family. She didn’t need to fawn over an instructor like this, but now it was about more than just Jay. She wanted to prove she could get him, just so she could break his heart and watch him beg her not to leave.
