Now he’d been caught helping the trainees cheat. No matter how tough he usually was, this was just about enough to push him over the edge.
“Milo.”
“Here!”
“What’s your relationship with Daisy? I want the truth. If what you say doesn’t match what I find out, your punishment gets doubled.”
Sweat broke out on Milo’s forehead. With Connor staring him down, stone-faced and cold as ever, there was no way he’d try to lie.
“Daisy... she’s my cousin.”
“Did you tell her all the training exercises?”
Milo nodded. “I was worried she’d spill, so I only shared the first day’s stuff.”
He’d told Daisy he’d send her updates every night and help their team win it all.
Connor nodded. “Anything else?”
Milo shook his head over and over. “No, that’s it. Nothing else.”
But that wasn’t exactly true. Daisy had also asked him to help teach some girl named Lydia a lesson, the one from the team that just made it through the barrier. There was no way he’d admit to that now. Daisy had really gotten him into a mess. He hadn’t wanted to help at all, but she just wouldn’t give up. He never imagined he’d get caught this quickly.
Connor gave him a long, cold look. “Go take your punishment.”
Milo nodded right away. “Yes, Commander!”
As Milo hurried out, everyone could see a small wet patch left on the floor where he’d been standing. He’d actually peed himself from fear.
By three in the afternoon, Lydia’s group had already made it to the third checkpoint. Before them, a wide river rushed by. The water looked deep, and the current was fast.
A row of small, narrow stones stretched across the river, each about a meter apart, barely big enough for one foot. A rope ran above them for balance, to keep people from falling in.
Daisy’s team was already most of the way across, just a few stones left before they’d reach the far side. When Lydia’s group showed up, Daisy’s team looked shocked. They never expected them to catch up so fast.
Daisy had wanted to shake Lydia and Jules into the water, but somehow, they clung to the rope like it was nothing. To make things worse, the rope was swinging even harder now, and Daisy’s team was wobbling, barely hanging on.
Lydia glanced at Jules. “Put a little more into it. Let’s see who drops first.”
Jules grinned, pushed off a stepping stone, and spun himself all the way around.
In a split second...
Splash!
Splash!
Plop!
“Help! I can’t swim!”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
