Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 731

“Yes! It’s all Lydia’s fault for showing off and stealing my first place!” Rosie looked up, her cheeks streaked with tears as she complained.

Mandy dabbed her eyes with a tissue. “That recording Connor has is just audio. With the way technology is now, audio can be faked so easily. Even videos can be edited. No one would know the difference.”

Benjamin narrowed his eyes. “So you’re saying…”

“All Rosie has to do is deny it and say she was framed. If Dennis backs her up and claims the voice on the recording was Lydia’s, just with a voice changer, Rosie can walk away clean. Lydia, on the other hand, gets to feel what it’s like being called a cheater for once.”

Rosie’s face lit up. “Dad, let’s do what Mom says.”

Benjamin looked uneasy. “But why would Lydia ever agree to that? I’ve heard she’s tough, not the type you can push around.”

Mandy scoffed. “So what if she’s tough? She’s just some poor girl from the countryside. What kind of trouble could an eighteen-year-old cause here in the Capital? If she’s willing to take the blame for Rosie, we can make sure she lives a life of luxury. She’ll have everything she ever dreamed of. If she refuses…” Mandy’s eyes grew cold and dangerous.

At Capital Med School, all the first-year students gathered at five in the evening to head back to campus. They had two days off before the official start of school and the opening ceremony on Monday.

On the bus, everyone was talking about Lydia’s group. Lydia kept to herself, quiet and distant, but Monica and Fiona were laughing and chatting with the rest of the class, telling stories about how amazing Lydia and Jules were during the camp challenges.

In the back row, Daisy’s group sat with their heads down, looking like wilted plants. None of them dared to look up. There was just one question running through their minds: are we really going to get expelled?

By the time the bus pulled up to campus, it was already half past eight. Connor was waiting outside the dorm, ready to take Lydia home. Kylie and Cameron had wanted to pick her up, but Connor had gotten there first.

As soon as Lydia walked over, Connor reached out and pulled her into the car. Even though they’d both been at camp, Connor missed her every moment they weren’t together. It was pure torture.

“Tired?” he asked, watching her closely. He’d heard other students complain nonstop and couldn’t help but worry.

“In that case, even if I have to carry you, I’m making sure you come with me tomorrow. I can’t let Grandpa follow through on his threat.”

Aiden was grinning to himself. Was this really the same cold, intimidating boss? He almost didn’t recognize him.

The car was filled with romance and teasing… until two black SUVs suddenly sped up behind them, closing in from both sides. In a flash, they boxed the car in, forcing Aiden to slam on the brakes.

“Are you kidding me?!” Aiden muttered, furious.

Men in black suits jumped out of the SUVs, clubs in hand. With a heavy thud, one of them smashed the windshield. Glass shattered everywhere.

“Get out of the car! Now!” one of the men shouted.
