What the hell was happening?
“Still not telling the truth? Fine then, Aiden…”
“Yes!”
“Invite them in for a cup of tea.”
Connor sounded so relaxed, like this was nothing. But for Leopard and his crew, it was basically a death sentence.
“No, sir, please! I’ll talk, I’ll talk!”
In the Capital’s elite social circles, nobody dared cross Connor. Tonight, they’d messed with the wrong person. If Connor actually took them away, they’d be lucky to know how they died.
Aiden shot Leopard a glare. “For real? Are you gonna talk or not? Stop dragging it out!”
Leopard flinched and blurted out, “It was the Gibson family! They wanted us to, um, invite Miss Norwood back for tea. That’s why we came for her, I swear, we never meant any harm!”
Aiden heard this and immediately kicked Leopard so hard he went sprawling.
“Invite? You block our car, smash the windows, threaten us, and call that an invitation?”
Leopard scrambled back to his knees, his voice shaking, almost on the verge of tears. “Connor, please, we just wanted to scare Miss Norwood. Honestly, we never meant to hurt her.”
This was all the Gibson family’s plan. They wanted Lydia to be terrified first, then they’d take her away and “talk” to her.
Connor’s voice was cold. “You’d better spill their whole plan right now. I don’t have a lot of patience.”
If it was anyone else, Leopard could’ve pretended he knew nothing and never ratted out the Gibsons. But this was Connor. Everyone knew what he was capable of. If they wanted to survive, they had to tell the truth.
Leopard knew when to give in. He had no fight left. He could only blame the Gibson family. This time, they’d gotten him and his guys into a big disaster.
Meanwhile, at the Gibson house, every light was on.
Rosie paced nervously. “Mom, still nothing?”
Mandy checked the time and shook her head. “Just wait a little longer. Don’t worry.”
But she couldn’t help feeling uneasy. By now, Leopard should have reported back. Did something go wrong? But Lydia was just a broke college girl. They’d sent over ten guys. How hard could it be?
Just as Mandy was getting more anxious, a loud crash rang out from the front door.
Right after, the butler’s furious voice boomed through the hall. “Who are you? How dare you force your way into the Gibson house!”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
