She knew Mandy and Rosie well. Benjamin and Mabel were siblings, which made Rosie Mabel’s niece. Kylie had met them a few times and had heard plenty from Mabel about what they were really like.

Connor looked at Kylie and Cameron. “Mr. Norwood, Mrs. Norwood, let me take care of this. You don’t have to get involved.”

The Gibson family had the Hyde family backing them. Now that Mandy and Rosie were being held at the police station, Benjamin would have no choice but to ask Jackson for help. The Norwoods might be the richest family in the capital, but going up against Jackson was still risky. Power always wins in the end.

Cameron looked at Connor. “Connor, we’re counting on you.”

“Of course, Mr. Norwood. This is my responsibility.”

Lucinda’s hand tightened around her fork. They were all so busy planning and making decisions for Lydia. Did anyone ever stop to think about how she felt?

At the same time, Benjamin had already arrived at the Hyde family’s house. Jackson lived in an official residence with guards everywhere. Since Benjamin couldn’t reach him by phone, he had no choice but to wait at the gate. He stood there for two hours before Jackson’s military car finally pulled up.

“Jackson!” Benjamin called, hurrying over.

Jackson was always busy with military work. He didn’t know what had happened that night, but seeing Benjamin waiting alone at his gate so late, he figured it couldn’t be anything good.

If Benjamin weren’t technically his brother-in-law, Jackson probably would have kicked him out right then and there.

“Jackson… I know Mandy and Rosie messed up. They didn’t think it through. But what’s done is done. We have to find a way to get them out.”

Benjamin could feel Jackson’s anger, but with Connor involved, he had no one else to turn to. And anyway, Mandy was Jackson’s sister. He couldn’t just do nothing.

“I told you to keep a low profile and not cause trouble,” Jackson said, his voice cold.

Benjamin nodded quickly. “We know. But Rosie’s reputation is ruined. She can’t even go back to school. That’s why she came up with this plan. We never imagined that Lydia would have Connor on her side.”
