Tina didn’t dare say no. She nodded right away. “Yes, Lucinda. Coming.”
She hurried back, careful with the steaming glass of water in her hands. When she finally set it down in front of Lucinda, Lucinda gave her a mocking smile. “Thanks you, Tina.”
Tina kept her head down, almost whispering. “Of course, Lucinda. The water’s really hot, please be careful.”
Lucinda just made a noise of acknowledgment and reached for the glass.
Tina watched her fingers close around it and started to move her own hand away. Suddenly, Lucinda shrieked, her hand jerked, and the entire glass of boiling water spilled right onto the back of Tina’s hand.
Tina’s breath caught. She didn’t even have time to scream before the glass hit the floor and shattered everywhere.
Lucinda’s hand shot up and slapped Tina hard across the face. “Are you stupid? Were you trying to burn me?”
Tina stood there in shock, her cheek burning and her ears ringing. The pain on her hand was so sharp that sweat broke out on her forehead.
Everyone in the room froze. In all the years they’d worked for the Norwoods, no one had ever seen Lucinda lose it like this.
Lucinda glared at her, voice icy. “What, you think just because you work for my sister now, you don’t have to listen to me anymore? You can’t even get me a glass of water without making a scene? Should I just fire you right now?”
Lucinda rolled her eyes. “I asked for hot water, not for you to pour it all over me. If I hadn’t moved so fast, my hands would have been burned.”
Grace eyed Tina’s red, swollen hands with a hint of satisfaction. “Lucinda, she’s so clumsy she almost hurt you. Let’s dock half her pay for this. If she messes up again, she’s gone. The Norwoods aren’t short on staff.”
Lucinda nodded. “Fine. You take care of it. Clean this up, I’m going upstairs.”
“Yes, Lucinda,” Grace said, grinning as she glanced at the rest of the maids, all standing with their heads down.
Lucinda walked to the stairs, stopped, and looked back at the silent room. “From now on, if I catch anyone gossiping, you can pack your things and leave. I won’t warn you twice.”

done reading lydia's story. thank you for sharing it....
thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
