Blake’s eyes narrowed and his voice came out cold. “Bring up the security footage. I want to see exactly what happened in this house today.”
He’d known for a while that Grace was trouble. She loved to boss people around, bully the staff, and was always whispering in Lucinda’s ear, trying to turn her down the wrong path. Blake had wanted to fire her before, but Lucinda kept begging him to let Grace stay. He’d even warned Grace to behave, but how long did that last? Now she was stirring up trouble again. Did she really think she ran the Norwood household, that she could do whatever she wanted and no one would stop her?
Lucinda’s face turned pale. Her hands clenched tighter, knuckles white.
Kylie looked around, feeling the tension in the room. Things were completely out of control. They had to get to the bottom of what happened today. She wanted to know what the staff got up to when she wasn’t around. “Go get Ryan,” she said.
“Yes, ma’am.” A maid hurried off to find the butler.
Ryan was the Norwood family’s head butler. He managed everything in the house, but he hadn’t been around when Lucinda and Grace took things too far with the maids. So he had no idea what went down. When he heard they needed to check the cameras, he went straight to the security room, but came back with bad news.
“Sir, ma’am, the security staff said there was a problem with the system today. All the footage has been erased.”
Lucinda let out a slow, silent breath. She hadn’t expected Grace to cover her tracks so well. Without the video, even if Tina pointed her out, she could just deny everything. What could a maid do? Thinking that, Lucinda straightened up, her confidence returning.
“Then bring everyone involved here,” Lydia said quietly.
Ryan nodded. “Yes, Lydia.”
Grace bit her lip, cursing Tina, Judy, and Alexis under her breath. They had better know when to keep their mouths shut. If they didn’t, she’d make sure they regretted it. She couldn’t believe she’d spent eighteen years carefully keeping her head down in the Norwood house, only to get tripped up by Tina. And deep down, it was all Lydia’s fault.
A few minutes later, Ryan returned, leading Tina, Judy, and Alexis into the room.
Grace spoke up again, desperate. “Tina, I’m really sorry. It was all my fault today. Since your hands are hurt and you can’t work, I’ll cover your chores. I’ll even give you my pay to make up for it. Please don’t blame me for being careless.”
She was terrified Tina would say Lucinda burned her, so she tried to take the blame.
“Quiet!” Blake’s voice was cold and sharp. It was obvious Grace was trying to stop Tina from speaking.
Grace flinched. She sank to her knees, her eyes flicking up to where Tina stood with her head bowed.
Tina’s heart was pounding. She didn’t know what would happen if she told the truth.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
