Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 782

Everyone just stopped, caught off guard.

“You mean… Mikey?” Kylie shot Grace a skeptical glance. Wasn’t the whole Mikey thing ancient history? Mikey never had feelings for Lucinda, and Lucinda herself said she wasn’t interested in dating anyone for the next few years.

Grace shook her head. “Lucinda did admire Mikey for a while, but he’s not interested in love, and Lucinda said she’s not looking for a relationship anytime soon. But Mr. Hansen has been in love with Lucinda for a long time. He’s been chasing after her nonstop.”

At this, Kylie and Cameron both remembered what happened in France. Caspian from the Hansen family had flown out just to watch Lucinda’s piano competition. He even stood up for her and was always looking out for her.

Lucinda stared at Grace, completely confused. What was she even talking about? There was nothing between her and Caspian. Sure, Caspian had made it clear he liked her, but she didn’t feel the same way.

“Lucinda, are you into Caspian now?” Cameron asked, his brow furrowed as he tried to make sense of it all.

“I…” Lucinda started, but the words caught in her throat.

Grace kept looking at her, eyes full of hope, like she wanted Lucinda to just go along with it. But why? Lucinda didn’t want to be with Caspian. She wanted Connor, not Caspian.

“Lucinda, I get that you’re embarrassed, but haven’t you been hanging out with Mr. Hansen a lot lately? Didn’t you say if he proved himself, you’d give him a chance?” Grace pressed, her words full of meaning.

Lucinda felt trapped. She really didn’t want to go along with this, but if she denied it now, everyone would think she had her eye on Connor and was trying to take him from Lydia. The thought made her angry. She’d been with the Norwoods for eighteen years. All of this belonged to her. So what if Lydia was the biological daughter? She was the one who had stayed by their side all these years.

Lucinda just stared, frozen. She was already kneeling and begging. What more did Lydia want?

Lydia picked up her laptop, took a couple steps toward the door, then paused and glanced back. “Grandpa’s already forgiven you, hasn’t he? What are you so afraid of?”

Then she looked at Cameron and Kylie. “However you want to handle this, it’s up to you. I’m going upstairs.”

As Lydia’s shadow disappeared up the staircase, Kylie’s eyes filled with tears again. She shot Lucinda a disappointed look. “Lucinda, just look at your sister. After everything you did, she didn’t even yell at you. Why can’t you try to be more like her?”
