Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 787

Lucinda had been up before the sun, working in the kitchen and trying to get breakfast just right. She’d been at it for hours, hoping that maybe Kylie and Cameron would finally forgive her and let her tag along to the Robinson family’s place.

But now, it was obvious she had no chance of going today.

It was all Lydia’s fault. After Lucinda had made breakfast herself, Lydia still wanted to go out to eat. Seriously? Even Blake and Elliot were on Lydia’s side. This was too much!

Once they’d left the house, Elliot let out a deep breath and glanced at Blake. “Blake, I feel like Lucinda has changed so much. Or maybe we never actually understood her?”

Blake frowned, thinking about everything Lucinda and Grace had done. “Grace’s influence on her is way too strong. Let’s just keep watching for now. If she doesn’t change, we can’t keep pretending nothing’s wrong.”

He turned to Lydia. “Sorry you have to go through all this, Lydia.”

Lydia just shrugged. “As long as she leaves me alone, I don’t care. I’ll just act like she’s not even there.”

Honestly, if Lucinda had just stayed in her lane and kept being the Norwood family’s little princess, Lydia wouldn’t have bothered with her at all. But Lucinda couldn’t help herself. She was petty and paranoid, always looking for trouble.

After Lucinda got Kylie and Cameron into the car, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Paige.

[Lucinda! Is the adopted daughter your family took in that Lydia from Capital Med School?]

Paige had attached a photo too. It was Lydia, sitting at breakfast with Blake and Elliot. This time the photo was from the front. Lydia looked practically glowing, beautiful and confident, sitting at the table with Blake and Elliot on either side of her, both of them looking patient and doting as they helped her with breakfast.

Lucinda almost threw her phone in frustration.

Paige took Lucinda’s side immediately.

[But how can she act like that? She’s competing with you for your parents’ and brothers’ attention, and even for Connor. Why don’t your parents do something? And why are Blake and Elliot out with her for breakfast? What about you?]

Paige was honestly confused. The Norwoods seemed so weird now. Why did they all revolve around this adopted daughter? Lydia had only saved Mr. Norwood’s life. Weren’t they being a bit much? It was like they didn’t care about Lucinda’s feelings at all. They used to put her first in everything.

While Paige was still thinking, Lucinda replied again.

[I’m sick of the food at Dawn’s. Lydia heard Blake say their breakfast is expensive and delicious, so she made Blake and Elliot take her to try it. I couldn’t be bothered to go with her.]
