Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 795

Before they left, everyone took turns hugging Lydia. Even Nathaniel promised he’d visit her soon.

“Grandpa, Grandma, I’ll check up on your health next time I’m back.” Lydia remembered Mabel mentioning her grandparents hadn’t been feeling well, but since this was her first visit, everyone was busy catching up and there just wasn’t enough time.

“Don’t worry about us, Lydia. Your grandpa and I are still doing alright,” Mrs. Robinson said, her eyes shining with affection. Looking at Lydia always reminded her of Kylie when she was little.

“Dad, Mom, make sure you take care of yourselves. Lydia’s a great doctor. We’ll have her look at you both again when she comes back.”

“Of course, of course,” Mrs. Robinson said, nodding enthusiastically.

Mr. Robinson glanced at Lydia, clearly wanting to say something, but before he could get a word out, his wife nudged him, telling him to hold back.

With no other choice, the old man just watched as the family got in the car and drove away until they disappeared down the road.

Once they were gone, Mr. Robinson turned to his wife, looking frustrated. “I just wanted to ask Lydia about her and Connor. Why wouldn’t you let me?”

Mrs. Robinson let out a little huff. “Those two have a good thing going. You and William need to stop meddling.”

The Robinsons and the Jeffersons didn’t get along because of some political disagreement. It made things tense, especially for the Robinson men. Just yesterday, William came home grumbling about finding someone better for Lydia.

“Mom, Lydia got pushed into that engagement as soon as she came back. There are so many good guys out there. It’s not like the Jeffersons are her only option,” William said, completely on board with Lydia dumping Connor.

“Exactly. I agree with William. There are plenty of good men. Connor just isn’t good enough for our Lydia,” Mr. Robinson added, getting a little worked up at the idea of finding a new match for her.

“Work and private life is different. This is Lydia’s business. You two need to stop sticking your noses in where they don’t belong.”

“Come on, I’ll take you to your dorm.”

Connor and Lydia took Luke to school together. As for Luke’s off-campus apartment, they went ahead and ended the lease.

Lydia told Connor to wait in the car while she took Luke to handle his dorm registration. Connor just drew too much attention wherever he went, and Luke really wanted to finish his last year of middle school quietly.

A dorm room usually had six beds. When Lydia and Luke got to Room 312 and opened the door, a bunch of boys who had been hanging out together immediately scattered. Some hurried to put out their cigarettes, one stuffed his under his blanket, another looked like he’d just swallowed his. The whole room smelled like smoke.

But when they realized it wasn’t the dorm supervisor coming in, just Luke and Lydia, their panic turned into annoyance.

“What the hell? Ever heard of knocking?”
