Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 810

Sandy froze, her face draining of color. “Officers, is there... some mistake?” she asked, her voice trembling as she tried to look brave, even though she was clearly scared.

All around the cafeteria, heads turned. Kids twisted in their seats to get a better look at what was going on.

“Isn’t that Sandy from our class?” someone whispered.

“Yeah, she’s the one who’s always sick. She didn’t even show up for the military training. Why would the police be after her?”

“No idea. I heard her little brother’s really ill, and her family made her donate a kidney to him. She’s had a rough time. What could she possibly have done?”

The officers heard the buzz of gossip, but they didn’t seem surprised. The student who’d called them had proof. Sandy had been trash-talking someone online over and over. The things she wrote were so nasty that even the officers were disgusted.

“We’ll figure out if there’s a misunderstanding once you come with us,” one of them said.

Right then, Sandy knew exactly who was behind this. Lydia. That snake actually went and called the cops? Did she think the police were her personal security? Sandy could feel her blood boiling.

“But... I have class soon. It’s really important, I can’t miss it,” Sandy said, her eyes getting watery as she stared at the officers, hoping they’d go easy on her.

The officers exchanged a look. “Alright, we can handle this here at the school. Let’s go to the admin office and get a staff to mediate.”

“Lydia, we’re all busy here. Does this really need to be such a big deal?” Silvia asked, her frustration clear. She’d heard the basics. Sandy had been attacking Lydia on the school forum, so Lydia called the police.

Lydia’s lips curled up in a cold smile. “If you think this is just a small matter, then does that mean anyone can go online and drag your name through the mud? Should they say you’re sleeping with another male staff? Or that you cheated your way into your job? Or that you treat students unfairly? And if people talk about you like that for a month or two, are you supposed to just ignore it?”

Silvia bristled, her nostrils flaring. “You—”

“I’m just being honest,” Lydia cut in. “If people can say whatever they want and never answer for it, why do we even have laws?”

Silvia was fuming, but she didn’t want to lose her cool in front of everyone. She sniffed and shot Lydia a glare. “There are plenty of people talking about you online. Why are you only going after Sandy? Are you picking on her because she’s an easy target?”
