Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 823

Sandy thought, Will Luke come looking for me? He should, right? After all, I saved his life.

Still holed up in the lab, Luke glanced up as his phone lit up with a call. The screen read ‘Home’ and his hands paused mid-motion. Only then did it hit him. The only one at home now was Sandy. Sandy… He didn’t even want to think about what she’d pulled at school. Honestly, he wanted nothing to do with her.

The next morning, Lydia woke up in a broad, warm embrace.

Connor noticed the second she stirred. “You’re awake?” His voice was all husky and soft.

Lydia looked up, her expression skeptical. “Weren’t you supposed to sleep on the sofa?” Some promise that had been. As soon as she’d fallen asleep, he’d snuck into her bed without a second thought.

Connor answered like it was the most natural thing in the world. “The sofa was too hard.”

Lydia just snorted. Yeah, right. She didn’t buy it for a second.

A maid came in with fresh clothes for Lydia, all picked out by Connor to match her favorite style.

At breakfast, Connor watched her closely. “Can I come with you today?”

Lydia couldn’t help but roll her eyes. He was getting clingier by the day.

“I’m going to Elliot’s to rehearse. You’d only mess with my work.”

Elliot’s national tour was just around the corner and most things were already set up. He’d called Lydia the night before, asking her to come by if she was free. The rehearsal was really just to go through her entrance and timing, nothing that would take too long.

Connor thought about it, then nodded. Better not to get in the way.

After breakfast, Lydia threw on a black baseball cap and a mask, then drove herself to the address Elliot sent. Since Elliot’s schedule made it tough for him to come out, Leo was waiting for her downstairs, practically buzzing with excitement. This was Lorelei, after all.

“Hey, here! Elliot’s inside waiting for you!” Leo called out, full of energy.

Lydia waved, parked her car, and headed inside with Leo.

Elliot was in the studio, practicing one of the songs Lydia had written for him.

With sweat and tears, I’ll write my own lane.

On this road to growing up, I’ll never refrain.”

Her voice was light and pure, with just a trace of innocence and uncertainty, like someone finding their way in the dark. It drew everyone in, making them feel the same mix of confusion and determination.

The moment Lydia started singing, Elliot whipped around, his face lighting up in shock and surprise. Everyone else in the studio stared, completely stunned.

Lorelei? No way. It was really her with that voice that could only belong to an angel.

Meanwhile, back at the Norwood villa, Cameron turned to Kylie. “Will Lydia be home for lunch?”

Even though Lydia and Connor were engaged, she was still so young. As her dad, Cameron couldn’t help but worry.

Kylie just smiled, seeing right through him. “She went to see Elliot this morning. They’ll be having lunch together.”
